LOTD: Daytime Diwali (Festive) Makeup Look

LOTD: Daytime Diwali (Festive) Makeup Look
Diwali at home is always special. Since the time I got married its been a tradition to celebrate Diwali at my in-laws place in Delhi and its one tradition that it holds a really special place in my heart. This year is no different and like always am here sitting in my in-laws' living room, sipping a cup of hot ginger tea courtesy my mum-in-law, nibbling on a slice of banana cake and typing away at my keyboard...

Diwali in Delhi is interesting in the sense that the festivities start almost 10 days prior... This essentially means decking up every morning and go about doing your business in your fineries... This gave me an idea for doing a post on a daytime festive makeup look... It will be both practical and easy to achieve.

REVIEW: NYX Cosmetics Matte Bronzer in Deep Tan

REVIEW: NYX Cosmetics Matte Bronzer in Deep Tan
I wear makeup everyday... It started out with simply a kajal in high school which slowly but surely graduated to lip glosses. Mascara followed suit and one day I found myself not able to go on without a blush and an eye brow pencil as well... Lately however, the latest to join my "everyday" makeup must dos are highlighters and matte bronzers...

I don't contour so much but I have come to realise that strategically placed bronzers and highlighters can do wonders for one's look and amp it up to look effortlessly chiseled. Now, who wouldn't want that?

Enter NYX Matte Bronzer...

Holidays are special, especially if they are in the middle of a work week :)
I generally like to spend such holidays solo, unwinding, chilling and basically doing everything I want to... This involves shopping, spending time at the salon, wandering the streets or spending time at my favourite coffee shop with a book by my favourite author... So this Tuesday (Dussehra day) I decided to walk into my favourite coffee and donut shop with a John Grisham and spent a quality couple of hours...

REVIEW: Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick in Aria
It's so good to be back!
I had been MIA since a couple for a couple of weeks and I have truly missed blogging :)
So the scene right now looks like this...
It's 10:30 pm, I am at my desk at work with a colleague (its called Pair-Programming), we have Roses by The Chainsmokers playing on the laptop speakers (the volume's low), we have just finished doing some changes to the code and are waiting for it to build successfully. If it does then we get to go home but if it doesn't then we are probably stuck here for another hour...
Its been like this since the past 3 weeks now and I am almost at the verge of saturation and so I decided to take a tiny little break from the monotony and get down to blogging... And here I am writing this post on my work laptop. The pictures are on my personal laptop and hence this post cannot go live before probably 1:00 am tonight!

Intricate Looking Quick & Easy Makeup with Duo Chrome Eyeshadows

Intricate Looking Quick & Easy Makeup with Duo Chrome Eyeshadows When I started out with makeup about 6 years ago I was totally obsessed with eyeshadows and everything eye makeup. So much so that if you check out my initial posts on the blog, you'd notice my LOTDs only about bright and beautiful eyeshadow shades. I would not wear foundation, or blush or even lipsticks, it would only feature eyeshadows (brighter the better) and eyeliners...
I would spend hours experimenting with eye makeup looks that could be achieved by using multiple eye shadow shades... It not only made the makeup look complicated, it also added new dimensions to the whole look...

Quick & Easy Indian Festive Makeup Look Perfect for Every Occassion

Indian Festive Makeup Look #2 - Versatile, Quick & Easy
As I was sorting through my "Indian Wear" closet, I came across this Maroon Silk Kurta I got myself from "W for Women". It has these bronze accents in the form of embroidery, piping and cloth buttons and even though it may not conform to the norms of being "in", it is gorgeous. It is long, hugs my curves in the most flattering possible way and it is versatile enough to be worn to a myriad of different occasions...

Why Give Makeup A Bad Name?

Why Give Makeup A Bad Name?
Makeup often gets a bad name, its either misunderstood or misused or mistreated and more often than not makeup is left defenseless without anyone taking it's side. I speak about makeup like its a real person because for me it is, it is my best friend for life, it is my confidant and it is something I turn to when I at my lowest lows or the highest highs, when I have revenge on my mind or when I am simply blinded by passion...

Festive Seasons & Makeup Look #1

LOTD: Marking The Beginning of The Festive Season in India
Come August/September and the one thing that everyone at work starts discussing are leave plans... Some very common questions that are passed around are "How many days of leave do you plan to take for Diwali?", "Are you planning on going somewhere during the Dussehra break?", "Any plans for Navratri?", "Aren't you going home to Kolkata for Durga Puja?" and the most common is "When is the traditional day planned for this year?"...

REVIEW: NYX Cosmetics Full Throttle Lipstick in Trickster
We just finished watching "Eye in the Sky" and I have numbed to say the least. To be met with a requirement to have to decide between a sensitive collateral damage and a risk of being responsible for losing hundreds of lives is something that I don't ever want to be a part of. And the movie is just about that. I recommend watching it if you haven;t already and if you have then do share your thoughts with me! I'd love to hear the myriads of perspectives that readers of ISLM generally have!

Lunch dates are special. Be it with the pati or with my girlfriends, I feel lunch dates ate occasions where I can truly experiment with my makeup. So when do you get the time to play with the younger pastels and blues and greens and other candy colors? Enter lunch dates...
