LOTD: Daytime Diwali (Festive) Makeup Look

LOTD: Daytime Diwali (Festive) Makeup Look
Diwali at home is always special. Since the time I got married its been a tradition to celebrate Diwali at my in-laws place in Delhi and its one tradition that it holds a really special place in my heart. This year is no different and like always am here sitting in my in-laws' living room, sipping a cup of hot ginger tea courtesy my mum-in-law, nibbling on a slice of banana cake and typing away at my keyboard...

Diwali in Delhi is interesting in the sense that the festivities start almost 10 days prior... This essentially means decking up every morning and go about doing your business in your fineries... This gave me an idea for doing a post on a daytime festive makeup look... It will be both practical and easy to achieve.

Quick & Easy Indian Festive Makeup Look Perfect for Every Occassion

Indian Festive Makeup Look #2 - Versatile, Quick & Easy
As I was sorting through my "Indian Wear" closet, I came across this Maroon Silk Kurta I got myself from "W for Women". It has these bronze accents in the form of embroidery, piping and cloth buttons and even though it may not conform to the norms of being "in", it is gorgeous. It is long, hugs my curves in the most flattering possible way and it is versatile enough to be worn to a myriad of different occasions...

Festive Seasons & Makeup Look #1

LOTD: Marking The Beginning of The Festive Season in India
Come August/September and the one thing that everyone at work starts discussing are leave plans... Some very common questions that are passed around are "How many days of leave do you plan to take for Diwali?", "Are you planning on going somewhere during the Dussehra break?", "Any plans for Navratri?", "Aren't you going home to Kolkata for Durga Puja?" and the most common is "When is the traditional day planned for this year?"...

#MyPlumObsession Indian Festive Makeup Look

#MyPlumObsession Indian Festive Makeup Look
I rarely dress up festive, Indian festive at least... I would call my personal style as 'Casual Chic' leaning towards feminine and hence it is very rare that I actually go out and dress up like really dress up... In real life at least... Pretty yes but highly predictable...

Hence I have created this makeup look that is versatile enough to be worn for any festive occasion and has been done using only Drugstore products.

LOTD: Indian Wedding/Festive Makeup Look Featuring Lakme 9to5 Eye Color Quartet in Tanjore Rush

Indian Wedding/Festive Makeup Look Using Lakme Tanjore Rush
Just the fact that I have 3 weddings to attend in the first quarter of 2014 is enough to put me in a tizzy and start hyperventilating about my outfits and makeup. And the fact that all three weddings are not in Pune and are rather in different parts of the country doesn't help either! Managing leaves, getting outfits ready and deciding on my makeup are just a few things that are topping my mental lists right now and hence don't be surprised about the slew of wedding party and festive makeup that I shall come up with in the next few weeks ;)

LOTD: Glamorous Diwali Makeup

Glamorous Makeup Look For Diwali

Yes I am obsessed! Obsessed with Diwali, obsessed with the promise of festivities during this time of the year and obsessed with anything that is even remotely connected to motichoor laddoos. The smell of crackers, the bokeh effects of diwali lights, gorgeously decked up women and dapper men and the soothing chants of the various aartis and poojas, I am looking forward to them all... With so much on my mind, it is but natural that all my makeup attempts would center around this festival of lights and ladies, hence this post of mine is about yet another makeup look you might want to try this Diwali...

LOTD: Wearable Festive Makeup For Diwali

Wearable and Yet A Festive Look For Diwali

More often than not, when deciding to do a look for the blog, I first work on it in my mind and then do it physically on myself... It somehow makes the execution simpler and also helps me decide on the outfit or at least a part of the outfit that I want to be visible... So a few days back while I was trying to figure out the various Diwali inspired looks that I wanted to do for ISLM, I decided on doing a very wearable look that even though bordered on neutral but looked every bit festive...

LOTD: Karwachauth and the Jazz

Makeup For Karwchauth 2013

One thing that you learn when you marry into a punjabi family is the perfect way of celebrating and observing karwachauth, full Bollywood style! And yes it's fun... Apart from the fasting and stuff, the whole rigmarole of getting dressed up, doing the kathaa, the pooja, the waiting for the chaand, berating it for being late and even the nakhras that we do when the pati insists you at least have a glass of water and you nod your head saying, "nahi abhi chaand nahi aaya hai" is all so Bollywood ;)

Bridal Beauty: Tutorial For A Bridal Eye Makeup That Goes With Everything

LOTD & Tutorial: Indian Bridal Eye Makeup
Marriages they say are made in heaven. Weddings on the other hand are a result of conspiratorial planning, procrastination, deep analysis and a balancing act of keeping all parties concerned placated. Trust me when I say that I speak out of experience! My wedding had three communities involved and myriads of people directly or indirectly being affected. As a result for me my wedding was somewhat like an Annual Day function in school wherein I was rushing off to my dressing room every hour to change. I changed 3 outfits during my wedding ceremony in 4 hours flat!

Bridal Beauty: LOTD, Basic Questions Addressed and Some Tips & Tricks

Bridal Beauty -  A New Section On I Simply Love Makeup

Till a couple of days back I had no plans of starting this section on Bridal Beauty... I am not really a huge fan of wedding extravaganzas, intricate designer bridal lehengas or huge jadau ornamental sets... I am more of a minimalist where marriage is concerned and hence I am not sure if I would be able to do justice to the to-be brides who are looking for help in beauty and makeup and planning for a Bollywood style wedding ceremony...

Colours Of India: Bengal Inspired Makeup Look & Tutorial

LOTD: Bengali Makeup
Ohe Shundoro Mori Mori Tomaye Ki Diye Borno Kori?
If you ask me what I love about India, I will always say "It's cultural diversity"... I am in awe of the fact that so many different cultures co-exist in harmony (almost always) and when it comes to representing our country, we shed our cultural differences and walk forward as one. We have the power to be ONE and yet have the ability to spice things up with our different cultural backgrounds...

LOTD: Classic, Vintage Glamour

A Vintage LOTD
I have been itching to go retro and do something of a classic, vintage look replete with Berry stained lips, dramatic eye lashes and a classy side chignon... So tonight, after dinner I set about finding the right instruments in my vanity and produced my version of some Old World Charm...
