REVIEW: Island Kiss Lip Moisturisers

I have been blogging about beauty and makeup since more than 5 years now and talking about the same brands, similar shades and almost duplicate products gets really monotonous... And hence when I got sent a few samples of these Island Kiss Lip Moisturisers, it felt like a whiff of fresh air :)

Island Kiss is an indie brand based out of Panjim, Goa and at present they offer only lip moisturisers in 3 shades - Birth Suit Nude, Bunny Pink Tint and Berry Cheeky Tint. The first thing you notice about these products is the packaging and I promise you will love it... It is kind of a cross between Benefit Cosmetics and The Balm Cosmetics, cheeky, sassy and vintage... It is downright delightful.
They come in tube-like packaging and have slanted nozzles to make product application easy.

Price of Island Kiss Lip Moisturisers

INR 499/- for the berry shade
INR 399/- for the other shades

These lip moisturisers are exactly what they are called, moisturisers... Do not mistake them for lip balms and hence they do not hydrate. If you have dry lips, wear a lip balm underneath these moisturisers and you are good to go. These can be described as lip glosses that are organic and are moisturising.

Texture wise they are a delight cause they are genuinely, extremely light and hence do not feel sticky or heavy like most lip glosses do. They are runny and watery and initially you might find it a little hard to control the product, but with a little practice you will get the hang of it, trust me :)
Additionally, they smell amazing and surprisingly they taste yummy. Yes they are safe to ingest...

(L-R): Birth Suit Nude, Bunny Pink Tint, Cheeky Berry Tint

Alma Vanilla & Ingles Lavender - Birth Suit Nude

Island Kiss Lip Moisturiser Alma Vanilla & Ingles Lavender - Birth Suit Nude

As the name suggests this is a clear glossy shade with no shimmer and not the slightest hint of any color. It simply imparts a beautiful gloss to your lips and I love this for work as well as running errands. It looks great over bare lips as well as with lipsticks underneath.

Cherry Blossom Flores - Bunny Pink Tint

This is perhaps my least favourite of the lot. Don't get me wrong it is a beautiful and a subtle shade of light pink but I just feel that it looks a little not homogeneous, the shade I mean. Plus it is shade that might not suit most Indian skin tones easily.
Nevertheless it would look gorgeous on lighter skin tones especially if they have a pinkish undertone.

Puerto Berry Blush - Berry Cheeky Tint

This without a doubt is my favourite shade of the lot, not because it is bright but because it is a universally flattering shade for almost all skin tones, Indian or otherwise. Once applied, it gives a surreal, glossy finish to lips accompanied by a gorgeous jolt of color that is not only attractive but is addictive at the same time...
I love to wear this shade during the day as well as the night.
The best thing though about it is that it dries up to a beautiful stain that makes you look like you've been drinking Red Wine all afternoon :)

What I love About Island Kiss Lip Moisturisers?

  1. They are organic
  2. They are petroleum-free and non-toxic and hence safe if ingested
  3. They contain SPF 15
  4. They are an Indie brand!
  5. The packaging is very travel friendly and can be carried around in your purses and handbags so easily!

What I Do Not Like About Island Kiss Lip Moisturisers?

  1. I would love for them to have more shades
  2. They are not hydrating and hence may make your lips end up feeling a little dry at the end of the day.

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW: L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Longwear High Impact Stick - Fuchsia Fame

Review of L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Longwear High Impact Stick - Fuchsia Fame
Right now am sitting at the dining table trying to figure out a way to start this post in an "interesting" way... I am obviously struggling... There are these times when your mind just goes blank and you can't think of anything, right? Yeah, I am having one of those moments...

So, I guess I'll directly dive into the review and not mull around. I bought the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Stick on a whim... I was out window shopping at Shoppers Stop and I just happened to glance at the L'Oreal counter and this cute little stub caught my fancy... The moment I swatched it I knew I had to buy it...

Price of L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Stick It costs a whopping INR 999/-

There is nothing much to talk about the packaging. It is exactly what it looks like, a rotating chubby stick with a cap. The plastic doesn't seem cheap and is pretty sturdy. I have d…

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.
