L’Oreal Glam Shine Balmy Gloss in Lychee Lust Review and Swatches!

ISLM Writer: Ishleen

Hello my darlings!
How is everyone doing? If you have asked the same question to me, let me tell you, that hnad you guys been following me on snapchat, you guys would have known how happy I am these days! I mean, of course, Samyukta has sent me a bag full of goodies—why wouldn’t I be all giggles and blushes? But with loads of products, comes the blogger responsibilities! The responsibility to bring to my readers my honest, tried and tested reviews of the products I am working with! So coming to the actual review now!

What Does L’Oreal say about the Glam Shine Balmy Gloss?

L’Oreal Paris introduces its first glossy crayon format for that looks after your lips. Balm and Gloss finally combined in a playful crayon format for mirror free application. Lips feel moisturized, look shiny with a sheer fresh looking colour pay off. Innovative formula: Balm and gloss in one crayon format, Enriched with flower extracts, not sticky, Ultra light feel.

Price and Quantity

I remember these being launched at an affordable price tag of 400 bucks (way back I 2013) but now the prices are hike and it retails for about 475 INR for 2.5 grams f product!

Packaging

I still very vividly remember L’Oreal launching the very first lip crayons in the Indian market! Yes, yes—their launch was a big deal! These came in chunky lip crayon like pencils with retractable bullets and those shiny silver caps! I loved the packaging then, I love it now as well! The colour coded tubes make it so easy to identify the shade as well as look so adorably cute! The cap is sturdy and will not betray you at any times! 10/10 for the packaging aspect!

Shade and Texture

Isn't the name a bit too delicious to even listen to? I mean lychee lust, who am I kidding? I lust for lychees all the freaking time, so even if I do not like the shade much, I do not feel like bad mouthing the shade! Anyhow the colour of the lip crayon is a cool-toned, very pale baby pink with heap loads of silver glitter! I call it glitter and not shimmer because it actually is glittery! Though it feels really smooth on application but if I rub my lips together, I can very vvidly feel the glitter being gritty! Not the best feeling in the world! Above all the shade is so light, that it hardly shows up! More of a glittery tinted lip balm!

Pigmentation

I know the product says it is a balmy gloss—but it is also a gloss no? It should have been a bit more pigmented! For me it is just a plain lip balm with the most sheer pigmentation ever and heaps of shimmers and glitter! Good to get those shiny lips but not the best bet for anyone with even the slightest of pigmentation! And sadly, it does not cover up anything! But if you have impeccably soft and pink lips, go flaunt it on bare lips, go flaunt it! It will make the lips look soft, shiny succulent and the lip crayon will make a great summer lippie!

Staying power

The moisturisation aspect of the balmy-gloss disappears in about 3—4 hours tops! And as the product is super sheer and gives nothing more than a glossy pink tint to the lips, I cannot really comment on the staying of the colour as it does not show up much in the forst place! Though the vanishing of moisture leaves behind dry glittery stuff sticking to the lips and clinging on to my lip lines—which I so badly hate! I generally wipe it all off with a wet wipe and then put it afresh!

Pros

-super cute and sturdy packaging
- provides moisture to the lips
-makes the lips look shiny and soft
-works as a tinted, glittery lip balm
-works great as a summery lippie

Cons

-expensive for a tinted lip balm kind of product
-the glitters feel gritty on the lips
-does not stay on for long
-the colour does not show up on me
-the glitters dry up on the lips after about 3-4 hours and starts feeling uncomfortable

Final Verdict

If you want a supper shimmery nudish-pink lip balm in a crayon like packaging and are ready to spare 500 bucks for it—go ahead! Otherwise, your regular lip balms would do just fine!

Overall Rating

3.5/5

  4. This looks pretty, but would have been lovely if it were a little bit more pigmented. The Maybelline ones are definitely more pigmented than this.

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
