Maybelline Color Sensational Bold Matte Lipstick Mat 3 Review

ISLM Writer: Sanchita

Hello everyone. Hope you all are enjoying winter. Fall is for dark, vampy and seductive lip colours but somehow my mind is totally off this season. I am busy wearing bright pinks, corals and oranges and buying some more. My latest buy is the Maybelline Color Sensational Bold Matte which I haven’t tried before. I have a soft corner for matte lipsticks and no matter what the season is – I am always wearing matte. Read on to know what I felt about this lip colour.

Product Description

Offering 5 trendy shades in a brilliant matte texture, these lip colours look and feel great on your lips. Let your lips speak volumes with Maybelline’s first matte lipstick in India!

Here’s why you’ll love it:

  • Enriched with rosa canina oil and jojoba oil for a moisturising effect
  • Contains honey nectar which has a hydrating effect
  • Has powder less matte pigments for attractive, vivid shades

My Thoughts On The Product

The lipstick comes in a shiny silver body with a matte orange plastic cap. The twist up function work properly and doesn't create any mess at all. The packaging is light weight yet sturdy, well-crafted and travel friendly.

The shade Mat 3 is a bright tangerine orange. It has a warm undertone and looks extremely good on the Indian skin tone. The colour doesn't look flashy and is perfect for those summer and spring.
The texture is what makes me hate it so bad! Seriously, didn't it from Maybelline. It is very difficult to apply and when you keep on layering, it becomes super patchy. I have tried using a lip brush but it doesn't work that way as well. Also, the colour badly clings on to my dry patches and slightly flakes lips.

The finish is nowhere close to matte. It is creamy and has a slight sheen. So if you are expecting a matte touch, you will be disappointed. The colour, thankfully doesn't bleed but a liner underneath looks neat.

The pigmentation is poor. You need several swipes again and again to build the colour. It doesn't hide any discolourations or patches on the lips, if any. And, the pigmentation is also not buildable.
The staying power is around 4-5 hours without any food or drinks. The lipstick is creamy and doesn't survive light snacks as well. After heavy meals, you definitely requires through touch ups. Due to its creamy texture, it also transfers to the cups and spoons a lot. The colour fades off unevenly which is very unsatisfactory as well.

What I Loved

  1. Nice and bright packaging.
  2. Bright orange colour and suits the Indian skin well.
  3. Creamy and hydrating.
  4. Staying power is 4-5 hours.

What I Disliked

  1. Pigmentation is not good.
  2. Patchy application.
  3. Not at all matte. (misleading info)
  4. Fades off with patches.
  5. Waste of money.

Overall Rating:

No. there are better ‘orange’ in the market and that too matte. It is disheartening to see Maybelline has such bad product. Neither will I buy it again nor will I recommend.

  1. Nice review Ishleen! This was one of the very first orange lippies I picked up.. I still love the color but I agree that it goes patchy :(

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :) Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;) Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal

Changes in my Skincare and Fitness Perspective Post 30

Changes in my Skincare and Fitness Perspective Post 30 #Adulting One early morning while I was sipping an exceptionally strong cup of coffee and introspecting I identified a few lifestyle changes that I had incorporated in the past year or so. On further retrospection I realised that these changes were a part of what I perceived would be good for me in the long run... When did I start thinking about my health in the future? When did I start worrying about how my skin would be 10 years down the line? OMG was I #Adulting? Is this even the correct usage of the latest hashtag?

Makeup Class: Difference Between A Bronzer, A Highlighter, An Illuminator & A Brightener

Bronzer Vs Highlighter Vs Illuminator Vs Brightener  Very often than not being a beauty blogger I come across the terms Bronzer, Highlighter, Brightener and Illuminator at least a dozen times a day. These terms are everywhere and people use them in their daily conversation with so much confidence that you'd be surprised at how wrong many of them are in their usages. Oh! Yes even I have made mistakes in the past about their connotations and today armed with research, experiments and well just plain analysis I have reached a consensus where I can now confidently put forth the results of my hard work... Yes, today ladies and gentlemen, I shall be clearing all the confusion that prevails behind Bronzers, Highlighters, Illuminators and Brighteners!
