MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush in Plum Foolery - Review, Swatches & FOTD

ISLM Writer: Ishleen

Hello girlies!
How is everyone doing? Winters are in full bloom here in Delhi, and with winters starts the flooding of sultry-flushed cheeks on instagram! Yeah, yeah! I know some of you may “say” that we are naturally blessed with flushed cheeks, or some of you might really be lucky enough to have those gorgeous, supple, pink cheeks—but alas, I am not one of you lucky girls and I need a little swipe of miraculous colour on my cheek to look instagram ready! :P

Not to forget the glorious wedding season which winters bring along, and special occasions require some high-maintenance makeup such as a nice pigmented, warm toned, plum hued blush and if it is a shimmery one—more power to you good woman!

So by what I assume, is that by now you have a vague idea of what my thoughts about Mac Plum Foolery blush are but keeping in mind blogger ethics, I feel it my duty to go ahead with all the details about this little baby!

How well does the packaging fare?

This babe was my very first high-end makeup purchase and I treat it like my very own child, but the insolent parent that I think I will turn to be, I somehow managed to break off the glass-like see through thing attached in the lid of the packaging! I am so disappointed in myself! And all this happened within 6 months of purchase—yes, yes judge me all you want! But at least I accepted what a klutz I am; had I wanted, I could have blamed mac for drifty packaging—but see, I am so honest! :P *patting-my-back-right-now*

Price of MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush

It costs INR 1450/-

Lack of applicator—can it be justified?

One thing I have heard people complaining about mac blushes is that they do not come with applicators—but seriously, I have never met a makeup pro who uses the applicator which generally comes along with the product! No, I am no pro but just a makeup addict with a basic sense of makeup and even I prefer to use my own brushes for a proper application! I agree, these small compact brushes are great for on the go touch-ups but the staying power of this little baby (a good 8-10 hours over your liquid or cream makeup with very little and even fading) slays all needs to touch up, so not coming with an applicator is not at all a con for Mac powder blush formulas!

How long does it stay being a shimmer blush?

And did I mention that this does stay on for a good 8-10 hours, and that is when I do not use my primer (which I never do, tbh. They are expensive, man! :p) So I can only guess how long it will stay atop a  good primed up base! The good part is that it does stay on for long, and unlike other shimmery blushes whose shimmers vaporise within first few hours of wear or travel all across the face—there is  no such non-sense with mac sheertone shimmer blush plum foolery.
Talking of shimmers—Mac has some really cool no-nonsense shimmer blushes which are so good and easy to sue that even the most amateur of makeup beginners will face no inhibitions in using them! Of course, it was my first blush, and if a klutz like me managed to get away with it, you babe, surely can make peace with it!

What is up with the “Sheer tone Shimmery Plum Foolery” claims?

So basically mac powder blushes come in a couple of variants ranging from mattes, sheer tones and sheertone shimmery ones and personally I love each one of them! And this being a very warm toned shimmery blush, is not really a glittery blush! I mean it does have shimmers, but it is shimmery in a really naturally-glowy sort of ways! I mean, the shimmers when spread (the blush) makes the skin look very radiant, not gritty! Plus, it so very creamy—it is powdery, but a very fine-consistency powder which feels so smooth on the skin! Not at all powdery or chalky and blends like a dream! So yes, the name suits the blush pretty well!

Is it really sheer?

Is it shimmery? Yes! Is it sheer? No! I mean it is not the sheerest of the formulas in the market! It is highly pigmented and if not used cautiously can adorn your cheeks with the typical clown-face—which is not what we want, really! One light swipe is more than enough for day time but given the building prowess the blush has we can always build it up for more heavy makeup looks! And t completely dislocates the need for a highlighter as it has ample radiance to offer on its own! 

Do I recommend?

If you are on the lookout for a nice warm toned shimmery blush which stays on for long and gives you a nice dewy flushed cheeks look—plum foolery is the way to go man!

4.8/5 (this is ah-mazing!)

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
