5 Pink Drugstore Lipsticks for Indian Skintone

5 Pink Drugstore Lipsticks for Indian Skintone

ISLM Writer: Ishleen

Heylo makeup lovers!
Some of us really obsessed with makeup, while some of us are obsessed with hoarding it! And if you are something like me, you are most probably than not obsessed with both!
You may have 8 pink lipsticks or 12 red lipsticks, but only a true makeup lover will understand that each of our babies have their own special position in our beaming hearts and none of them ever lets us down! And after all, each pink has a different undertone, and even if it doesn’t, we want it anyway! Don’t we girls?

But if your just beginig to venture in the glorious sea of lipsticks, especially pinks, and lust over the neon Barbie pinks that you see people from the west adorning, think again! No, never once did I mean that you cannot flaunt it, but again, there are certain colours, hues and undertones which look tailor made for Indian skin tones! And beneath, I have listed out the top 5 for you lovelies, that too in budget, i.e., from the drugstore brands!

1. Maybelline Colorsensational Bold Matte Lipstick in MAT 1

Although my very own lady love Samyukta has already reviewed this beauty for you girls, and I have nothing more to add to this lipsticks glory; but I’ll still take a step further and tell it to you girls, loud and clear, that if there is one pink in your collection that you need to own—then Maybelline colorsensational bold matte in MAT 1 it is! It is such a gorgeous matte, bubble-gummy kind of pink which flatters Indian skins and will suit every skin tone ranging from fair to medium, to wheatish and even the dusky skin types! And for 375 bucks? Beat it!

2. Colorbar Velvet Matte In Addictive Magenta

Velvet Matte range is love! Pure bliss! And when colorbar decides to create such gorgeous shades like Addictive Magenta; man oh man! This is such a gorgeous, subtle shade of pink, which is matte, but so comfortable to wear and stays on for like forever! And I have oodles of people to back me up on this staying power claim! If you love this lipstick, it loves you and your lips back, even more! Perfect for everyday use and is the perfect deal at just 299 bucks!

3. Maybelline Colorshow Fuchsia Flare

So now comes my favourite of the lot! Like seriously, if you have seen any of my previous works based on pink lipsticks, you know this particular always comes in it! The bestest hot pink shade that Indian market has ever created in order to cater to the whole spectrum of skin tones—it is the Maybelline colorshow in fuchsia flare! Hands down! It was just the perfect warm undertones and is so comfortable to wear! neither is is matte not overtly glossy, just the perfect satiny-creamy finish which makes the lips look so much better! And again, at 299 bucks, you cannot argue with me! :P

4. Faces Go Chic Lipstick in Prairie Pink

Remember the light candy pinks which I bewared you against in the intro to this post? The Go Chic ipstick in Prairie Pink from the house of Faces Canada is one such baby pink, almost leaning towards a candy, bubble gum pink with very visible blue undertones! But unlike other blue-toned baby pinks which may wash out Indian skin tones, Prairie Pink suits us just perfectly and gives a very polished look! Especially if apired up with blue and grey smokey eyes! Give it a try if you love subtle, yet bright blue-toned baby pinks!

5. Miss Claire Lip Creams in 05, 06 and 16A

I was a bit sceptical at first about these entries in my list! No, not because I had doubts on the quality about my babies—mama would never do that to you girls, and you know that! I had my inhibitions because I was doubtful if it was accessible to all of you—but then I thought, that someone would have to take the leap, and I had to do it! These lip creams are the exact, if not better, dupes for the much coveted NYX matte lip creams! These are gloriously smooth, luxuriantly velvety matte and all things good! The good part is that you have not one, not two, not three, not even the only ones that I mention here, but dozens of pinks from this range—though I made it a bit simple for you and listed down the (three :P) best of the lot! All have different hues, undertones but all have the same (exceptionally good) quality and you must try at least one of these especially as they retail for just 195 bucks (even 150 in some places).

So which of these do you already own or intend on buying? Do let us know in the comments below!

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.

Ooooohss And Aaahhss!! 1. Really really stays on forever. 2. Doesn't smudge on my oily lids even after 8 hours of wear. 3. Friendly to the pocket 4. Faces have become quite easily available now. 5. They do not cause any allergies or reactions. 6. They are waterline safe a…

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
