ISLM Travels: My Dilli Haat Haul

ISLM Travels: My Dilli Haat Haul

This post has been due since a really long time! I visited Delhi over the long Eid weekend and though it was a short trip, I did squeeze in an evening of shopping all thanks to my sweet sweet in-laws! I am not very well versed with roads in Delhi and to be honest, I am pretty scared to be alone in Delhi and hence I am always waiting for someone to either take me places or at least accompany me to various places...

The pati when in Delhi is generally busy with work or his friends and hence this time my in-laws decided to take me around Delhi... The Dilli Haat in South Delhi has always been my favorite place to shop from but my in-laws this time had a different plan... They had heard about a *new* Dilli Haat that had been started in Janakpuri and since none of us had been there before, we decided to check it out...

The Dilli Haat in Janakpuri isn't fully operational yet. There are only 21 stalls and the food court that's operating... Crowd-wise I prefer the other Dilli Haat, however the one at Janakpuri had some unique stuf and because of a reduced crowd, the stall owners do entertain bargaining and I did get some great deals there.

So here's what I got from the new Dilli Haat :)

1. Buddha Fragrance Diffuser

I am sucker for candles, fragrance diffusers, incense sticks, ambient lighting and all that jazz... If you follow me on Instagram, you'd know about it already ;) So when I came across this stall that was selling all of these things I knew I had to get something and this fragrance diffuser in the shape of Buddha meditating looked so unique! Plus I got it for INR 150/-!!! Awesome isn't it? :)

2. Embroidered and Embellished Sling Bag

I got this from a stall that was selling a lot of Gujarati handicrafts including mirrored cushion covers, embroidered bed covers, cowrie shell belts and other knick-knacks. What attracted me to this particular bag was the pastel shaded embroidery and the fake golden coins used as embellishments :)
I got this for INR 300/-

3. Kantha Embroidered Patch Work Dupatta

You know I am a huge patron of handlooms and handicrafts and hence when I spotted a stall selling Kantha I knew I had to pick something up. I have a lot of Kantha sarees and dress materials but they are the typical embroideries on a solid base color. Why I picked this particular dupatta up was for the beautiful patchwork.
I got this for INR 1000/-

4. Cream Lace Cigarette Pants

I am perhaps the last person to get onto the "cigarette pants under long kurta" bandwagon. And when I laid my eyes on this gorgeous cream colored net cigarette pants they simply beckoned to me.
Price: INR 700/-

5. Hand Painted and Handmade Pottery

These perhaps were the highlight of my shopping trip. The stall was from West Bengal and the artist himself was the stall owner. he and his would make these handmade pottery using the clay from the Ganges delta (that's what he claimed) and then hand painted them. Each and every piece was different from the other rendering every piece as unique!
Don't you think they are beautiful?

  1. Nice picks...i loved that sling bag

  2. The Kantha dupatta and the handpainted pottery are beautiful and great prices too !

    1. I swear! I find Delhi pretty reasonable as compared to Pune but the prices in Dilli Haat totally bowled me over! :)

  4. Awesome haul Suma, I love Dilli haat. I always buy lots of jewellery from there. I also love the food there, yumms !

  5. Nice handicraft items! I didn't know there was another Dilli Haat. Will visit it someday! :)

  6. I picked something similar to that sling bag on my last trip to Dilli Haat. I love that place. Such a beautiful way to celebrate the handiwork of India.

  7. Wow..It all looks sooo amazing!! Nice Pick.. :) :)

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :) Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either. This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids. Image of the Product Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil in Navy Blue Swatches Swatch: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue LOTD Ooooohss And Aaahhss!! 1. Really really stays on forever. 2. Doesn't smudge on my oily lids even after 8 hours of wear. 3. Friendly to the pocket

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :) Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;) Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal
