Review of Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume

ISLM Writer: Himani

Hey all beauty geeks!!! Today I am going to review Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume. Lip glosses are God-sent in spring and summers. When heavy color on the lips looks a little out of place in sweltering heat, glosses with their sheer color and shine come to the rescue. I prefer light and non-sticky glosses to add shine to the lips, without fussing over the lip color.

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume belongs to my collection of sheer lip glosses that are used only for adding beautiful shine and almost no color to the lips. These kind of glosses are best to wear alone or with any lip color to add a shiny finish. Let us know more about the gloss.

Price of Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume:

It costs USD 19.

You would have already guessed from my earlier description that Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume is a very sheer gloss. It is actually a nude shade of gloss with glitter in it. Though the glitter is non-chunky and visible only very up-close, still it gives an awesome shine to the gloss. The gloss does not look flat on the lips and will suit almost all skin tones. The shade is perfect to match with any heavy makeup on the eyes. And yes, you can also choose to wear this during daytime if you want to go light on lips.

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume has a medium consistency; not very liquid or thick. I like the consistency since it makes it easy to apply and spread. The reason why it is one of my favorite glosses is its non-sticky and moisturizing texture. I love that my hair does not get stuck to the gloss. And the gloss is quite hydrating, too. Even after it fades away, my lips feel moisturized and not at all dry. Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume has a sweet vanilla fragrance which lasts for some time. Though the fragrance is not strong or irritating, those with sensitive nose should keep this in mind.

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume has sheer coverage, but you will need only two-three swipes to get shine on the lips. The gloss has decent staying power, if compared with average glosses. It stays on my lips for around 3-4 hours, though obviously you will need to re-apply after a meal.

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume comes in a plastic, rectangular tube with a black cap. The packaging is transparent, which lets you know the amount of gloss left in the tube. It has a doe-foot applicator, which is very convenient to use.

Ooooohhsss And Aaaahhhsss!!!
1. Gorgeous nude shade with subtle glitters.
2. Beautiful shine.
3. Perfect consistency for a gloss.
4. Non-sticky texture.
5. Very hydrating on the lips.
6. Will suit all skin tones.
7. Decent staying power.
8. Cute and convenient packaging.

Ouches!!!
1. Does not survive a meal.
2. Has a vanilla fragrance.
3. Expensive.
4. Unavailability in India.

Repurchase?
May be!!!

Recommendation:
Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume is a beautiful nude gloss, that adds an awesome shine to the lips. It is perfect to pair with smokey eyes and looks good even with a simple makeup. Non-sticky texture and moisturizing on the lips. I love the gloss, but the color is not very unique. Recommended if you are still looking out for a gorgeous nude gloss with shiny finish.

Overall Rating:
7/10

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
