PUNE SPECIAL: #FeminaBelieveInPune
Raise hands if you have heard of finishing schools... Raise hands if you've been to one... Yeah I thought so... In all honestly even I haven't met anyone who has been to a finishing school... But I know of the concept through books and well some movies...
Finishing schools were once very popular where parents sent their daughters to get polished, learn etiquette and get conversant with whatever was deemed polite in the society at that time... And then the feminist movement started, 70s happened and finally the 21st century dawned where girls made great strides in fields that were considered a man's domain... All this was achieved without having to go to a finishing school... Needless to say Finishing Schools as a concept became redundant...
Fast forward to 2015 and I got a call some time back to attend the launch of Femina Believe in Pune. I quickly "googled" (they should add "googled" to the English dictionary btw) and found their website feminabelieve.com... At first it seemed like a Finishing School of sorts where they taught women to do the right kind of makeup, styling, dining etiquette and communication skills... I wasn't impressed...
As luck would have it I fell ill the day of the event and I could not attend it... However, curiosity got the better of me and I went through their website again... And it got me thinking... Was getting trained in etiquette or basic makeup skills such a bad thing? Would it stop me from achieving "greater" goals in my career? I mean I was almost ashamed at my hypocrisy...
On one side I am a techie and on the other I am beauty blogger, living my passion by being surrounded by makeup and also living my dream of being a Software Engineer... Do I not spend hours in front of the mirror mastering the art of applying flawless foundation or finding a foolproof way to wear Red Lipstick? Then what's the harm in formally learning these skills?
If you too are of the same opinion then do check out Femina Believe... Its a great place to learn new things and get in touch with our feminine sides :) Their outlets are currently in 3 cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Pune...
P.S. This is not a sponsored post!
