Bobbi Brown Comes To Mumbai | Makeup Lessons | Chit Chat

So the title picture says it all, doesn't it? I mean if you are a Mumbai-kar, then you know what I am talking about in the picture, directly as well as in pun... You did get it didn't you?
For those of you who know not Mumbai, then here goes...

The picture is of Victoria Terminus (VT) or well nowadays known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST)... Seen it in movies haven't you? Yeah so this is this major (heritage) landmark of Bombay... That is part 1 of the story...

Part 2?

Well you see if you notice, I say "Bobbi Brown's In Town"... That essentially means that the Bobbi Brown is in the "Town" side of Mumbai! Mumbai is broadly divided into 2, Town and the Suburbs... Town = Downtown
Suburbs = Suburbs (duh!)

So now that I have clarified the whole thing, let us all concentrate, close our eyes and chant loudly...

Bobbi Brown is in Bombay!!!
Bobbi Brown is in aamchi Mumbai!!!

Being a Pune-ite and married to a Delhi guy, I have invariably felt closer to Bombay... So when Bobbi Brown opened up first in Delhi, I was green with envy... I was so put off that I vowed not to step into Bobbi Brown till it opened shop in Bombay... Well of course that wasn't to be and I did break my vow and got myself the Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation and Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lipstick in Red Carpet.

Then life happened and I forgot all about how put off I was...

So a couple of weeks back when I received an invitation, yes a physical invitation arrived by post (trust Bobbi Brown to sweep you off your feet), I was left numbed... It said Bobbi Brown arrives in Bombay (about time I say!)... I fainted... When I came to, the pati says I was dancing all over the house and then I fainted some more... No I don't remember any of that... Its what the pati says and so you know you need to take it with a pinch of salt :P

So I make the "holy" trip to Bombay... I am excited... I reach Palladium Mall (Phoenix Mills, Lower Parel) and I realise I am nervous, almost sweating... I needed to cool down before I made an appearance at the store, so I enter Zara, buy myself a pair of ballerinas and then walk towards the escalator...
The store was obviously not open for the public yet. The whole facade of the store was covered with a giant Bobbi Brown poster and the door was locked... I called up and they opened the door for me... This was one of those times when I felt I was special as a Beauty Blogger...

When I entered it was like a world out of this world... I felt like Alice in Wonderland... Everything was what fantasies are made up of... Beautiful colors, gorgeous people, yummy drinks, delectable finger food, smiling faces, excited shrieks and the sound of camera clicks... Just reminiscing about it gives me goosebumps... I was in Beauty Blogger Heaven...

So there I met Eliano Bou Assi (Director of Artistry & Education - Europe, Africa, Middle East and India!)... He was hand-picked by Bobbi Brown herself and taught the art of Bobbi Brown Makeup! In turn he taught me how to color correct and conceal my under eye area... Yeah! It's still sinking in... *Ecstasy*...

What Did I Learn At Bobbi Brown's Makeup Lessons?

I was assigned a personal Makeup Artist. She was gorgeous and her name was Raahat. And then she was patient, very encouraging and extremely competent...
I got a personalised Face Chart done too :D

Here's what I learnt:

1. Brightening The Under Eye Area

The under eye area must always be brightened up and this can very easily be achieved by first color correcting the area and then applying a concealer a shade or two lighter than your actual complexion. Foundation isn't important but concealer is!
If your skin allows, apply your corrector, concealer, your powder, skip the foundation and you my friend are ready to face the world!

2. How To Apply Concealer The Right Way

Dot on concealer from the inner corner of your eye, taking the dots along the under eye and end at the outer corner of your eye, then taking a flat concealer brush (blending brushes are a No-No!) pat on joining the dots. Finally taking your ring finger pat some more till the product gets all absorbed and blended. Set with powder immediately!

3. Applying Bright Cream Blushes

Apply cream blushes with your fingers only in a pat-pat motion. If you take on too much or if you think that it looks too bright, take a FLAT foundation brush, a sheer coverage foundation and just put on a layer over your blush. This will give you a very natural looking blush and will make you like you are glowing from within.

4. Doing My Eyebrows The Right Way!

Black eyebrow powder is a no-no (I am still iffy about it though!) and so is brown (for Indian skintone)... Suggested shades are Dark Grey and Taupe... I use Dark Grey! Yippee!!!
If using a powder and not a pencil then apply it using an EYEBROW BRUSH. An eyebrow brush is NOT a spoolie and is also NOT an angled brush. It is a small triangle shaped brush with pretty coarse bristles that help you create natural looking strokes.

5. Soft Is Beautiful

The whole focus wrt Makeup at Bobbi Brown was on softness, femininity and glow... I went with pretty stark makeup and they transformed me into this glowing diva! Look for yourselves!

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.
