PUNE SPECIAL: My Valentine's Date Night At Euriska

Euriska Mediterranean Bar and Restaurant

EURISKA:  The Mediterranean Bar & Restaurant

Raise hands if you are an ardent fan of 300 (the movie)... Have heard of Sparta... Are in awe of King Leonidas... No? No? and No? Well ok... Raise hands if you are mesmerized by the pictures of white mud houses on the cliffs overhanging the deep blue sea that describe Greece... Are in awe of Greek Mythology... Are hook, line and sinker in love with the finger licking Mediterranean Cuisine...

Still, no? Then this post would do you no good, I am afraid... You may as well check out another post on ISLM...
Or wait...

Here is a screenshot of an Image Search on Google of Greece...

Caught your attention now, haven't I? :)

Well... The pati is a huge fan of 300 and Spartans and Leonidas and everything that is related to the movie and I on the other hand am a sucker for everything Mediterranean... Footballers... Sergio Ramos, Gerard Pique, Cristiano Ronaldo (Portuguese I know but he plays for Real Madrid, doesn't he?)... Food... Pasta, Pizza, Risotto, Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Baklava... Sighhhhh... Skincare... Olive Oil!

So when Euriska, Pune invited us to spend our Valentines Date Night at their lounge, we just had to say yes!

My Valentine :)

This was the first time we were visiting Euriska and even though I had read rave reviews about it on zomato and had even some friends say some fabulous stuff about the place I still was a little apprehensive... But boy-oh-boy! What a fabulous little place it is...

Where is Euriska?

Euriska, Pune is located in Koregaon Park, near the Westin Hotel.

What Cuisine Do They Serve At Euriska?

Euriska is known for its Mediterranean cuisine especially Greek.

What does Euriska Mean?

Euriska is Greek for 'I discover'...

True to its name, Euriska encourages its patrons to discover the meeting of flavors, neo-rustic ambiance and naughty cocktails for a delightful evening... And it was truly a magical one for us too...

As i sit to write this post, I don't know where to start... The setting?

Euriska is open air with parts of the seating area covered with thatch, the walls are made to look like they are made of mud/clay and painted white to give off a very Greek coastal countryside sort of a vibe... The furniture is wooden and painted white too... The lighting is mostly blue depicting the beautiful sea and in some areas is pink to purplish somehow reminding me of a beautifully unique Santorini Sunset over the sea... The setting is just simply beautiful and I will be lying if I said anything otherwise...

But what really caught my attention was their extensive drinks menu... It is simply fabulous... There is so much that they offer and the menu itself is so witty! Take a look!
I ordered the 'Deer Hunter' from the 'Straight To The Point' part of the menu, which basically is a Mojito with a Euriska twist... The pati ordered a Mexican Itch amongst others...

For those of you who don't drink, there of course is the 'Hall Of Shame' part of the menu that lists out the 'virgin' version of various cocktails ;) Awww come on!

For the serious advocates of fun with alcohol, Euriska boasts of an island bar that needs to checked out for sure!

Food-wise the menu is just out of this world... Especially the seafood... It is so different from the typical sea fare that we Indians are used to (read malwani, Goan, Mangalorean and Bengali delicacies) that its almost like a wake-up call to ones senses... Prawns to Calamari to Octopus to Oyesters to Crabs to Scallops, they have it all and I had it all... I just couldn't give up seafood in Euriska... It is the best!

Euriska Mediterranean Bar and Restaurant

I ordered seafood for my Hors d'oeuvres, seafood for my appetizer and seafood for my main course... The pati on the other hand tried his hand at everything with a vegetarian Hors d'oeuvres, chicken for appetizers and lamb for the main course...

Here's a detailed list of what we ordered...
Hors d'oeuvres

1. Berry & Green Salad with Coconut & Strawberry Shot

This was the pati's order and it consisted of a salad of Mulberries, Tomatoes, Olives, Cucumber and mesclun greens served with a Cardamom spiced coconut water & mulled strawberry shot. Not a fan of the shot drink but we both loved the salad... It had an olive oil dressing and it was beautifully fresh...

2. Octopus & Scallop Salad with Oyster & Tequilla

This was what I had chosen and it consisted of Grilled Octopus and seared Scallop salad served with shelled oysters and tobasco tequila... Needless to say we loved every bit of the dish and since was a tiny serving we surely were left wanting for more...

Appetizers

1. Dolmadakia, Crispy Feta Bursts and Fried Haloumi

This dish consisted of Greek and Cypriot elements. Not really a huge fan of the Feta busrts but the Haloumi was no doubt delicious!

2. Crabmeat, Scallop Meat in Shell and Turkey Blanketed Olives

This was recommended to us by the executive chef of Euriska and is probably the best dish we had there... It consisted of a portion of crabmeat served with cocktail sauce, succulent scallops cooked in the shell and turkey meat rolled in olives with sundried tomato pesto... Finger licking delicious!

Maincourse

1. Lamb Kafedas

This was again recommended by the chef when I told him that the pati loved lamb. This as the name suggests is a Moroccan delicacy that is basically a 'seekh kebab' made of minced meat in ras-el-hanout spice. Served with pita bread and yoghurt based sauce, it was hands-down the pati's favorite dish of the night...

2. Thalassina Psites on Pumpkin Risotto

Like I said I had seafood for all 3 courses, my main course was a simple pumpkin risotto with grilled prawns, calamari and sea fish... It is a warm, cozy dish that you want to tuck yourself in with on a rainy afternoon... Its comfort food for sure...

Dessert
The dessert platter was something that the chef had already planned and prepared for us called the Chocolate Trois... It consisted of a chocolate parfait in choco cones, chocolate mousse and white chocolate brownie...

Euriska Mediterranean Bar and Restaurant

I died and went to heaven that night...

Coming back... Overall we had an overwhelmingly fabulous time at Euriska, with its delectable food and a very courteous staff...

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
