REVIEW: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Totally Toffee

ISLM Writer: Himani

Today I am going to review Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Totally Toffee. A nude lipstick is a hot trend for some time now. Be it summers or winters or even a fall season, the nude shade has maintained its presence in the market. In fact, I have seen a lot of beauties getting open to the idea of sporting a nude lip. Me included!!!

And that's why you probably might have seen zillions of new shades in the market catering to this new trend. Every second brand is busy having a wearable nude in their collection. You can take your pick in several finishes - sheer, matte, satin and even metallic. However, Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Totally Toffee has been around for quite a while now. Much before the 'nude -on-the-lips' trend became a mandatory try!!!

Price of Maybelline Colorsensational Lipsticks:

It costs INR 310/-.

Maybelline Color Sensational is my favorite range from the brand. Several shades to choose from ranging from subtle neutrals to popping brights. Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Totally Toffee is a nude shade done right for fair and medium skin tones. It is not a lifeless nude that may make your lips look pale. The lipstick is a beautiful shade of medium brown with pink undertones. It may even look a mauvy taupe in certain lights. Probably, one of the few nude shades that will surely brighten your face.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Totally Toffee has decent pigmentation. Just two swipes of the lipstick gets you the desired color on the lips. However, for pigmented lips, the best way is to apply a concealer or a pale lip pencil on your lips before applying this lipstick. The lipstick has the creamiest texture. Glides on smoothly and feels very hydrating on the lips. Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Totally Toffee has a gloss-like shine to it. Since it is really creamy, it lasts for only 2-3 hours. Does not survive a meal at all. You really need to reapply it few times in the day.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Totally Toffee comes in a rectangular lipstick packaging. It has a metallic body and a brown colored plastic cover. I love the color coordinated packaging.

Ooooohhsss And Aaaahhhsss!!!
1.    Medium brown with pink undertones.
2.    A nude shade that does not wash out medium skin tones.
3.    Perfect companion for heavy smoky eyes.
4.    Decent pigmentation.
5.    Glossy sheen.
6.    Creamy and smooth texture.
7.    Applies evenly.
8.    Feels very hydrating on the lips.
9.    Affordable.
10.    Sleek packaging.

Ouches!!!
1.    Low staying power.
2.    Will wash out duskier beauties.

Repurchase?
May be No. I prefer lipsticks with better staying power.

Recommendation:
Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Totally Toffee is a beautiful nude shade that will not make you look lifeless. The medium brown with slight pink undertones looks gorgeous on fair to medium skin tones. With a moderate pigmentation and a very comfortable texture, this is one of those lipsticks that everyone should try. Definitely recommended!!!

Overall Rating:
8/10

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.

Ooooohss And Aaahhss!! 1. Really really stays on forever. 2. Doesn't smudge on my oily lids even after 8 hours of wear. 3. Friendly to the pocket 4. Faces have become quite easily available now. 5. They do not cause any allergies or reactions. 6. They are waterline safe a…

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
