REVIEW: Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Passion Fruit Pink

Review of Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Passion Fruit Pink - Dupe of Mac Molten Mauve?

Guest Post By: Himani

Hey all beauty geeks!!! Has it ever happened to you that you ignore a certain thing for very long and then, it becomes one of your favorite items ever. Well, this happens to me a lot of times. I have an 'inertia' issue and do not like to make changes voluntarily. I stay happy in my own 'wonderland', till something becomes too big to be ignored. Lip glosses, nude lipsticks and now, coastal scents hot pots are some of the makeup biggies that I could not ignore and finally, succumbed to the whole idea.

I am a huge fan of eye shadows, but somehow always doubted the quality of Coastal Scents. I really could not understand the hype behind these affordable eye shadow pans. I mean how could something so cheap be good that it is compared to Mac eye shadows?? Well, as always, the curiosity bug bit me and I ordered a huge haul from Coastal Scents. Today I am going to review the first shade I picked up on receiving the order - Passion Fruit Pink.

Coastal Scents has hot pots in almost every shade imaginable. So, obviously it becomes difficult to shortlist a few. I picked up Passion Fruit Pink because it is considered as a dupe for Mac Molten Mauve. Well, I do not have the Mac eye shadow, but after a bit of research, I was convinced that it can be called a close dupe. And to add to that, it is a gorgeous shade to have. Passion Fruit Pink is a bright pale pink with matte finish. It is not your regular bubblegum pink that will make you think twice about wearing it. Passion Fruit Pink is a bright but still subtle shade of pink that will look super pretty in an eye makeup.
You can obviously use it as an overall lid color. However, I love using it as a transition color and buff out the crease. This adds that slight pop of unexpected color and makes any eye look more interesting.

Coastal Scents in Passion Fruit Pink has a very creamy and smooth texture. Though it is really powdery in the pan, there is absolutely no fall out while applying it. The eye shadow goes on smoothly and evenly. You have to be super careful while applying crease and transition colors. These shades should be buffed out well to make your eye makeup look flawless. This eye shadow is excellent in that aspect as it blends like a dream. No major effort is required to blend it in the crease.

Passion Fruit Pink has a buildable pigmentation. One swipe will not get you enough color. However, you can always apply more to get the desired color. The best part is even if you apply more, the eye shadow does not look muddy on the eye lids. Further, you ABSOLUTELY need a primer to get the best color pay-off for this eye shadow. The primer also extends the longevity of the shadow, though it lasts for 4-5 hours without a primer as well. In other words, a primer and this eye shadow is a lethal combination for any eye look!!!

There is nothing interesting to write about the packaging of the coastal scents hot pot. This eye shadow comes in an eye shadow pan in a disposable plastic cover. The idea is to choose your eye shadows and put them together in an eye shadow palette. Coastal Scents also sells eye shadow palettes for storing your hot pots.

Price of Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Passion Fruit Pink

It costs USD 1.95.

Ooooohhsss And Aaaahhhsss!!!
1. Super duper cheap.
2. Creamy texture.
3. Blends beautifully.
4. Smudge-proof and crease-proof, if used with a primer.
5. Buildable pigmentation.
6. Long lasting.
7. Pretty pale pink shade with neutral undertones.

1. Needs a primer or a base for a good color pay-off.
2. Little powdery.
3. Limited availability.
4. Difficulty in storing.

May be not the same shade, as it should last me long. But will definitely try other eye shadows.

If the price does not convince you to buy these amazing cute little eye shadow pans, then the fact that several of them are famous Mac dupes should. Coastal Scents hot pot in Passion Fruit Pink is a beautiful pink shade that looks good on the lid as well as a transition color. The texture and the pigmentation are really at par with expensive eye shadows. So, please do not ignore these eye shadows and do try Passion Fruit Pink to start the process of falling in love with these hot pots.

Overall Rating:

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
