Review: MAC Speak Louder Lipstick

Review of MAC Speak Louder Lipstick

Guest Post By: Marianne

Every once in a while, I have to remind myself to switch it up where my makeup is concerned – both my look and the products I use. Inevitably, I keep coming back to my comfort zone of defined eyes and nude-pink lips. When I consciously want to try something different, I dig deep into my stash and bring out the bright and colourful stuff. Presenting today - my only out and out bright lipstick, MAC Speak Louder!

Speak Louder comes in Cremesheen finish and has the signature faint vanilla scent. It glides on smoothly and evenly and gives almost opaque colour in a single swipe. Another swipe and it covers lip pigmentation completely. It has the slightest sheen to it – not really glossy, but not matte. I really like this finish! I find it neither drying nor moisturising, but it is comfortable on the lips for as long as it is there. If you have dry, flaky lips, you would have to prep them a bit before application. The staying power is for around 5 hours on me, which I find very good. It does transfer to cups though. Even after it wears off, it leaves a strong pink tint which I love (I prefer lip products that stain and leave some colour on the lips). You would need a makeup remover to get rid of it.

The shade is a bright, bright pink, bordering on neon in certain lightings. It lights up the face instantly. To be honest, I don’t wear this lipstick full on outside the house...I just press it lightly on my lips and wear it as a stain and it gives really good colour payoff even worn that way! The thing about bright lips is that you need a bit of work on the rest of the face...they look much better with evened-out skin, and frankly, I don’t have the time or patience to do a full face of makeup most days! Nevertheless, I love this shade and I’m enjoying wearing it in my house and preening in front of the mirror!

Yays!

  1. The shade will suit all skin tones
  2. Long wearing
  3. Very pigmented
  4. I like the finish – neither glossy nor matte

Nays!

  1. Transfers quite a bit
  2. Needs some work on the face to make it look good

Price of MAC Speak Louder Lipstick
INR 1190 for 3 gm.

Will I repurchase?
I don’t think I’ll need to!

Recommendation
If you are someone who loves wearing bright lippies, this is a must-try! It will suit a wide range of skin tones and really brightens up the face. For those like me who are not courageous enough to work a bright lipstick in public, you can always wear it as a stain! It looks beautiful either way.

Makeup Class: Difference Between A Bronzer, A Highlighter, An Illuminator & A Brightener

Bronzer Vs Highlighter Vs Illuminator Vs Brightener

Very often than not being a beauty blogger I come across the terms Bronzer, Highlighter, Brightener and Illuminator at least a dozen times a day. These terms are everywhere and people use them in their daily conversation with so much confidence that you'd be surprised at how wrong many of them are in their usages. Oh! Yes even I have made mistakes in the past about their connotations and today armed with research, experiments and well just plain analysis I have reached a consensus where I can now confidently put forth the results of my hard work...

Yes, today ladies and gentlemen, I shall be clearing all the confusion that prevails behind Bronzers, Highlighters, Illuminators and Brighteners!

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…

10 Best Loose Powders Available in India

10 Best Loose Powders Available in IndiaISLM Writer: Sanchita

Summer is going to knock on the door soon and we, who are blessed (or cursed) with oily skin, will crawl back to our powders and/or matte foundations to keep the skin oil-free as far as possible. Being oily skinned, I have always found my way back to loose powders even though their packaging is slightly messy. This is because loose or translucent powders are more finely milled than the compact versions and hence gives you an even look rather than a made-up cakey one. Compact has the tendency to look rough under eyes or around the mouth whereas loose powders work excellently. No wonder, oily skin stays matte for longer duration than it does with the compact ones. Mostly, it gives sheer to buildable coverage and sits on the skin like a natural finish look.
