Celebrity Makeup: Kareena Kapoor And Some Much Required Contouring

Need To Contour!
The year before I got married, I was running around like this crazy person (haven't we all been there?) from tailor to tailor, from boutiques to boutiques getting something stitched, something altered, something hemmed... Phew! That was the most hectic year of my life cause of the wedding preparations as well as at work front!

PREVIEW: Orange Galore!

Orange Lip Products From Colorbar
Nothing says Summers like the color Orange... Freshly squeezed Orange Juices, a refreshing swig of Screwdriver and a bright Orange lippy is what I associate summers with...
So when I received these Orange hued goodies in my mail yesterday, I knew I was going to have an extremely awesome Summer this year :D

NOTD: My First Attempt At Nail Art (Free Style)

Pink And Green Nail Art
You know how for each one of us there had always been one subject in school which  was the toughest! For some it was Maths, for some History and for some Chemistry. I was in the latter group where Maths was of no issue but Chemistry had me sweating like crazy... I hated it and it hated me back...

REVIEW: MAC Cremesheen Lipstick Lickable

Review of MAC Cremesheen Lipstick Lickable...
Are you a lipstick girl or an eye shadow girl? Nope am not talking about what you prefer. Rather what I am trying to elicit from you here is which out of the two products do you first get drawn to at a makeup store or a counter? Is it an eyeshadow or a lipstick that you know you are sure gonna walk out of the store with? It's easy for me. When I am at MAC, I am an eyeshadow girl through and through, while at all other stores/counters, it is a lippy that I am partial towards... No logic whatsoever but this is exactly how it has been :)

Beach Vacation: Goa!

The land of Sun and Sand, of Pinacoladas and Mojitos, of Trance Music fests and flea markets... Goa :) As many of you know, I have just gotten back from a mini vacation in Goa and this time it was a little different as compared to all my other Goa vacations... Multiple vacations in Goa in a year is what us Puenites and Mumbaikars enjoy ;)

ISLM Rants: Do You Remove Your Makeup Everyday Before Bed?

Ideally I should lie through my nose and say that Yes! I remove my makeup every night before bed and that it'll be a cardinal sin if I slept with even a little swipe of makeup on. However, truth be told, I am a lazy lazy bum and I remove a makeup say only about 4 days in a week! Rest of the days I sleep with it on and immediately regret it the next morning :(

Unveiling The Mystery Behind #Just5Mins With NIVEA

Wait For A Surprise At The End of the Post!
You know how you ask someone for a favour or ask them to do something for you, however small it is and they say #Just5Mins as if you'd believe that! The phrase itself is a synonym to "I'll take some more time" today... Isn't it? So when NIVEA promised to give me 5 benefits in #Just5Mins, all I did was roll my eyes at them... Until I actually tried the product...

Featuring: Too Faced Glamour To Go 2 Pocket Palette

Featuring Too Faced Glamour To Go 2 Pocket Palette
There are things that lie forgotten in your memory, so much so that it needs something really drastic to bring it the fore. It could be anything... From some hurt you've had to face to a loss to a forgotten lippy and well in my case a whole palette replete with eye shadows, blushes and lippies... Yup I forgot I owned a palette that too, a palette that had come to me all the way from Paris (um Sephora Paris)...

REVIEW: MAC Mineralize Foundation With SPF 15

Review of MAC Mineralize Foundation with SPF 15
There are times when I get a product and I review it within a week and then there are products whose reviews take longer and I finally belt them out after about a month or so. But there are also products that I finally get down to reviewing after more than a year and the MAC Mineralize Foundation SPF 15 is one such example. Honestly? I cannot think of any other product that I took so long to review :) This sure has to be special ^_^

Coffee Breaks With ISLM: Should Bloggers Reply To All Comments?

I am going to be honest today... Brutally honest...

When I had just started following beauty blogs and wasn't even a beauty blogger myself, I would leave comments on posts that really touched me in ways more than one. Some of my comments would be replied to and some would be ignored. The blogs that ignored my comments were mentally blacklisted and I wouldn't go back to them for a week or so. But there were blogs where my comments were immediately replied to and I would feel like I belonged to the blog :) I don't know how many of you feel like this but this phenomenon left a huge mark on the principles I have as a blogger today.

REVIEW: Lotus Herbals FloralGlam Lipstick In Sensuous Mauve

Review of Lotus Herbals FloralGlam Lipstick in Sensous Mauve
When I come across the word Sensual, I generally associate with colors like blood red or fuschia pink. Never in my wildest do I associate it with purples or mauves. But I guess people at Lotus Herbals have a more fertile imagination than I do. That's the only reason I can think of for coining a name that says Sensuous Mauve.

My Skincare Routine: Dry Skin

My Dry Skin Regimen
This post is long due, and for some, long awaited. I apologize for taking so long especially when I was getting a lot of requests for it. I just got plain lazy and wasn't really sure as to what should I pen down... Why? Cause honestly, I really don't have a very complicated routine... To be very honest, I don't even use any hi-fi stuff, just some basic stuff...
Now before I begin, lemme reiterate that I have very dry skin and hence this post on skincare is going to be essentially for dry skin only.

The Week That Was #3: Makeup Wise...

The Week That Was...
It's been a while I updated something something in this feature. But I have been really not doing anything special since the past two weeks and so there really was nothing to post about, makeup-wise :/
Like you all know, I have been busy shifting to a new flat and then I fell sick... So all in all a very hectic two weeks that have gone by...

Swatch Fest: Colorbar Color Intense Liquid Liner

Colorbar Color Intense Liquid Eyeliner Swatches!
You know those days when you wake up late or worse, wake up with a hangover, then just rush to office hoping that by the time you reach your desk, the caffeine in the coffee that you gulped down as a sorry excuse for breakfast kicks in and then your friend calls up and asks you to be ready to go clubbing directly from office... You say yes and then realise that you are not carrying any "clubbing appropriate" makeup with you! Story of my life? Not exactly but close ;)

Trend Alert: Cats Give Birth To Kittens... Literally & Metaphorically!

One Gives Way To The Other!
I am a beauty and fashion magazine junkie and nothing relaxes me more than leafing through those glossy pages of sartorial charm and artistry magic on a Friday night, with my foot soaking in a tub of warm, bubbly water and a glass of much assaulted Iced Tea right beside me... That's my ideal start to a weekend. The Fridays that I cannot indulge in this magic of  some me time, I know that the weekend that ensues wont be what I really want it to be :P

Summers I Love You... Summers I Adore You... Summers I Wait For You...
Yup I am a Summer lover... Of course to many of you all it's almost equivalent to a crime especially for those who come from cities that have the most unbearable Summers :P But there is something about tanned arms, aam pannas, chilled orange juices, Iced teas, swimming pools, shorts and chappals that hold so much romance for me that makes me a warm weather lover through and through...

ISLM Rants: Do Product Reviews Affect What You Buy?

Where beauty products are concerned, I do make it a point to read reviews that are available online. I feel blog reviews of products do tend to aid your judgement of buying a particular product. However, I buy products on the basis of pretty packaging and in case of skincare, its fragrance.

Does your buying a particular product depend on the reviews it has received?

REVIEW: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain In Smitten

Review Of Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain In Smitten
I generally keep trolling beauty blogs for new launches (somehow reading them on other's blogs seems more interesting than reading the same PR info in a mail delivered in my inbox by the same PR people), tips and tricks, makeup inspirations and well most importantly product reviews... So when you are in this "stalking" mode, it is really difficult to miss out on products that everyone has been talking, reviewing and raving about... Glaring examples would be the Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner Pop, MAC LE launches and most popularly the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. The raving reviews and the oohhhhss and aaaahhhsss that I have been reading about the latter was just so tempting that I had to jump the bandwagon and be a proud owner of at least one of those miraculous sticks that supposedly had the ability to transform my lips into kissable pouts that have been just bitten (Pun intended with gusto…

Raveena Tandon, Her Makeup And The Mistakes It Came With... While doing celebrity makeup posts, very often than not there is always some part of the celeb's makeup that I like and only a small part I do not. This post however, is an exception. A glaring example of how makeup should not be done!

REVIEW: Aaranya Honey Moisturising Shampoo

Review of Aaranya Honey Moisturising Shampoo
Guest Post By: Manu
A good, different, uncommon name is always like a ‘Jingle in your ears’ which definitely draws your attention. And this shampoo’s name perfectly fits for this phrase. Aaranyaa – a Sanskrit word which historically means green and bountiful forest, so be rest assured to get all the natural ingredients in this product. Ah! What a bliss! It brings me back the memories of my childhood vintage – pure black shampoo with Amla, Shikakai and Methi (fenugreek) seeds. Above all, it also claims to be

REVIEW: Colorbar Definer Lip Liner In Just Coral

Review Of Colorbar Definer Lip Liner In Just Coral
I like to think of myself as a low maintenance girl. Of course, the amount of truth behind that statement can only be validated by the pati. When I say low maintenance, I of course do not mean that I need no taking care of and the stuff that comes with it, what I mean is that I prefer makeup and products that need no touching up throughout the day ;) I just cannot be the one seen in office and mall washrooms doing my makeup, combing my hair or spraying perfumes... Not that I have anything against who do that, it's just that I prefer to be discreet or rather really inconspicuous when I am "touching up"...

When I talk about No Touch-Up Beauty Products, the first thing that comes to mind is a matte lippy,

Oriflame is a brand I have been using for very long. I have no attraction towards them but I cannot stop ogling at their new brochures too. So I simply could not control myself from getting this one.

High heels surely does help a woman look tall, smart and sharp. High heels can be labeled as a woman’s if not best, then a close best friend... It adds height, panache and a great posture. Heels work oh so well with minis and tunics, sarees, salwar suits, formal wear or just plain old jeans and tees. High heels are friends with more or less every attire. It can instantly add the “oomph” in your sweatshirt paired with mom jeans. Women like me,

Coffee Breaks With ISLM: Heartbreak!

Post By: Anks There is one part of us that we love more than the others. Right? For some its their eyes. For some its their smile. For some its their flawless skin. For me it was my hair. When I was in class 9, my hair covered my hips (and what a blessing that was) and went on for another 4 inches. Maintenance was

READER QUERY: Lipstick Recommendation To Brighten One's Face

Hey Samyukta,
My 45 yr old friend and neighbour needs your help. I have been trying to tell her that she needs a go-to lipstick that's versatile enough to wear both during the day and for a casual evening out that will brighten her face. But the  lady insists on taupes, browns and maroon-browns that make her look older than she is.( Needless to say she has a haul fit to put a cosmetic counter to shame)
She has fairly good skin and for want of an exact description of her skin tone, I''ll ask you to imagine a totally make-up free Bipasha Basu, but half a shade duskier. Can you help with a chioce of a shade that she will be comfortable with ? Her fave brands are Maybelline and Chambor. She might be more attentive to your advice as she's aware that I subscribe to your blog. (Hmm...I'm being sneaky and not at all apologetic about it !)
Thanks, Samukta and keep up the good work. I look forward to your post.
Thank you for them.
