TUTORIAL: Smudged Liner Smoked Out Look

Tutorial For A Smudged Liner Smoked Out Look

I have these phases where I tend to stick to a particular technique of makeup for a really long time... My current phase includes doing up my eyes using the smudged liner technique to give myself a smoked out look... Of course the shade of the "smoke" keeps varying from Blacks to Browns to Purples but the base technique remains the same...

Today, I plan on doing a tutorial for the base technique of achieving a smoked out look by simply smudging your eyeliner. It seriously is as easy as it sounds and you will soon be trying it out in various colors and shades, I promise! :)

Here are the various looks I have created in the past with a single basic technique.

Products Needed
1. Brow grooming kit.
2. Eye prepping kit
3. Cream/Gel Eye Liner in a dark shade.
4. Black Eyeshadow
5. Dark Blue/Dark Purple/Dark Brown eyeshadow
6. Browbone Highlighter shade
7. Shimmery eyeshadow for highlighting the inner corners
8. Black Eyeliner
9. False Lashes
10. Mascara

Tutorial For A Smudged Liner Smoked Out Look

1. Prep your eyes with concealer and groom your eyebrows

2. Apply a highlighter shade on your browbone. I have used MAC Ricepaper.

3. Apply a cream/gel liner on the outer 1/3rd of your upper and lower lids. You could go for any dark color. However, if you need a subtle shimmer to the whole look then I'd suggest you to go for a liner that has glitter or shimmer in it. I have used Bharat and Dorris Cream Eye Liner in Shade 12

4. Using a flat smudger brush, smudge the cream liner before it dries up completely... You need not be neat with it.

5. Next, taking some black eyeshadow with a narrow blending brush, apply it in your crease. You might want to use a shade of Dark Purple to add a little depth as well. I have used Kryolan Matte Black Eyeshadow and MAC Shadowy Lady Eyeshadow.

6. Then, taking a shimmery eye shadow apply it in the inner tear duct area. I have used MAC Retrospeck eyeshadow.

7. Next, apply a black liner in your waterline as well as your tightline. I have used Maybelline Gel Liner.

8. Finally wear some dramatic false eyelashes, apply some liquid liner on your upper lashline and complete the look with a swipe of mascara!

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

Review of L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Longwear High Impact Stick - Fuchsia Fame
Right now am sitting at the dining table trying to figure out a way to start this post in an "interesting" way... I am obviously struggling... There are these times when your mind just goes blank and you can't think of anything, right? Yeah, I am having one of those moments...

So, I guess I'll directly dive into the review and not mull around. I bought the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Stick on a whim... I was out window shopping at Shoppers Stop and I just happened to glance at the L'Oreal counter and this cute little stub caught my fancy... The moment I swatched it I knew I had to buy it...

Price of L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Stick It costs a whopping INR 999/-

There is nothing much to talk about the packaging. It is exactly what it looks like, a rotating chubby stick with a cap. The plastic doesn't seem cheap and is pretty sturdy. I have d…

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
