REVIEW: The Body Shop Vitamin E Cool BB Cream

Review of The Body Shop Vitamin E Cool BB Cream

With me approaching 30 with the speed of a bullet train, I have been getting pretty conscious about my skin. So much so that I have literally every product from The Body Shop's Vitamin E Range... Yup, I got them all... The last one to join the league was TBS's Vitamin E Cool BB Cream!

Of course with so many BB creams suddenly flooding the Indian market, I wouldn't be surprised if you sighed and said to yourself, "Really? Do I need to read about yet another BB cream?"... But before you press Alt+Tab and switch windows, would it help to hold your attention a little longer if I told you that The Body Shop actually has 4 ranges of BB creams?

Yes! They do... I have already reviewed The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream HERE. The all-in-one BB cream comes in 4 shades and it seems to adapt to your skintone and makes you look all glowy and pretty in addition to hiding your blemishes. On the other hand, the Vitamin E Cool BB Cream is more like a brightener for your complexion.

In reality TBS Vitamin E Cool BB Cream is not really a traditional BB cream such that it comes in only one shade. And hence it is not difficult to realise that it does not really provide any coverage. It is more like a moisturiser with a little bit of tint that tends to even out your skintone and somehow brightens up your entire face.

Texture wise the cool BB cream is very thick but it spreads out very evenly and gets applied pretty smoothly on your skin. Initially when I squeezed a bit out of the tube, I was dismayed at the muddy brown colored bit that came out of the tube. However, I was in for a pleasant surprise when I noticed how easy it was to apply and instead of making my skin look muddy, it made my face look all glowy and bright :)

It however has a peculiar smell, which is something between nutty and metallic. I know, it sounds gibberish but it has a smell, a very distinct smell... Nothing too strong, not overpowering but something subtle yet distinct.

Price of The Body Shop Vitamin E Cool BB Cream

It costs INR 995/-

It would suit almost all skintones, unless you have an extremely pale complexion. Also it should suit beauties with dry to normal skin. I have very dry skin and I wear it over my day cream.

Ooooohhhhsss And Aaaaahhhhsss!!!
1. It instantly brightens up the skin
2. It is a part of the Vitamin E range from TBS and I have faith in all products from this range where my skin is concerned.
3. It is very easy to apply and it spreads out quickly and evenly.
4. It is very moisturising and the effect stays on for more than 8 hours.
5. A little product goes a long way.
6. It is not tested on animals.
7. It conatains glycerin, Shea butter and wheat germ oil that are known to be good for your skin.

1. It has an unpleasant smell, even though very subtle.
2. It is one of the pricier BB creams in the market.
3. It might not suit beauties with very pale complexions.

Would I Repurchase?
I think I will. I kind of like the natural looking base it provides and yet makes me look all bright and fresh.

If you are looking not necessarily for a BB cream but for a complexion brightener and if you don't have skin that is too oily then you might just like this little product. It provides a natural looking glow to ones face that is just perfect for work as well as college.

  1. Not suitable to oily skin I guess :-/

  2. Nice review. And your skin looks amazing. TBS products always suits my skin. I was waiting for this review. Do you use a sunscreen over this? And wht is the lipstick that you are using.

The lippy that I am wearing is Colorbar Take Me As I Am in Flirtatious Pink... Here's the review...

  3. The glow it gives is really nice.. instant solution for dull looking skin!!
    Will check thsi out.. :)

    1. Wow Poonam you have summed it up so precisely! "Instant solution for dull looking skin"... It truly is that! :)

  4. It's quite natural looking but very expensive on the other side .. Great review :)

  5. looks perfect for my skin type n reqmt... i think i shud give this a try :)

  8. Ah You are glowing, it really does illuminates your skin ^_^
It looks dark on my oily/combination skin, I range from NC40-42. :'(

    1. uh oh it looks dark on you? :( kuchh to gadbad hai.. cause I am NC36 - NC 40 :P

  9. Brilliant review dear ! I love TBS products and my fav from Vitamin E range is their face mist ! I won't mind spending extra bucks for such a lovely product
    Xoxo Shreya <3

    1. Hi5!! :D The Vitamin E range is awesome isn't it :) Its my fav too!!!

  10. I have oily skin and I dont think so it will suit me! Nice review!

    1. yup it might not work too well on oily skin... but thank you for liking the review Rachna :) ♥

  11. I have combination skin (dry cheeks and oily T-zone) and I'm quite pale. ALL Mac shades are way too dark for me.
This has become my new holy grail product.
Its one of the few products that evens everything out and doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything. I get really red dry spots and this covers them beautifully.
I do find it helps to set with powder on the T-zone especially.

It can expensive, but TBS is always having sales so its not too bad.

If you live near a store I highly recommend you drop by and get a sample.

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.

Ooooohss And Aaahhss!! 1. Really really stays on forever. 2. Doesn't smudge on my oily lids even after 8 hours of wear. 3. Friendly to the pocket 4. Faces have become quite easily available now. 5. They do not cause any allergies or reactions. 6. They are waterline safe a…

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
