What Should You Include In Your Bridal Trousseau
Marriage has a different meaning for all of us... The reasons we get married are numerous and varied... What varies the most though, is the way we get married, the different traditions, beliefs, practices and cultures... But one thing that runs common amongst all brides (the world over) is shopping and preparing their bridal trousseau... Today on Bridal Beauty we shall be discussing and listing out beauty products that are a must have for your bridal trousseau.
Every girl has a different requirement and if I deem a pink eye shadow a necessity for my trousseau, you may not necessarily feel the same way and hence instead of specifying specific shades, I shall be more persistent about the finishes and stuff like that... So here goes...
Must Have Makeup Products For Your Bridal Trousseau
This is a no-brainer. You have got to have at least the following lipsticks in your kitty
a) An MLBB nude shade
This will come in handy when you go out for impromptu late night ice-creams or going grocery shopping/visit to the family tailor with your mum-in-law... You want to look put-together but not "made up" and for this a matte MLBB lipstick comes in handy...

f) A glossy pink lipstick
This is a no-brainer... We are girls and we consciously or subconsciously get drawn to glossy pink lipsticks... It is in our DNAs, a part of our chromosomes and hence babe you better stock up on them!
My Recommendations: Inglot shade #68, MAC Craving (review HERE), Maybelline Colorsensational Hooked On Pink (review HERE), MAC Girl About Town, MAC Lickable (review HERE)
g) Your favorite lipstick
I am being ruthlessly practical here... You need to have your favorite lipstick in your stash for days when things are not going well... Fights... Adjustment issues... In-confidence... Situations like these and your fav lippy comes in handy to perk you up, make you feel sure of yourself and face the world all over again :)
2. Lip GlossesYou don't need much in this category, just the basics... One transparent gloss, one nude gloss and one pink gloss should cover for you...
My Recommendations: The Body Shop Lip Treatment Glosses (review HERE), MAC Lipglasses, Colorbar True Gloss (review HERE, HERE & HERE), Maybelline Hi Shine Lip Glosses (review HERE)
3. Eye Shadows
Even if you are not a PRO at doing a smokey eye, you have got to have some eye shadows in your kitty! Hands down! The easiest ones to handle would creme eye shadows but try working with pressed shadows as well... You'll be amazed at what their combination can do for you :)
a) MAC Paint Pots
They are no doubt the best cream eyeshadows that are available in the market! Even if you are on a budget, you should get one... For sure! They do not crease, they do not smudge, they are waterproof and they can be used as bases under powder eyeshadows as well!
HERE, HERE & HERE).
If you are an eye shadow junkie then you must own a few palettes or better still make your own (thanks to Inglot & MAC)...
My Recommendations: MUA Undress Me Too Palette (review HERE), Maybelline Diamond Glow Quad in Gray Pink, Faces Minerals Eye Shine Trio in Beechwood 01 (review HERE)
c) Single Powder/Pressed Eyeshadows
These can single handedly transform your whole look from cute to Pro! And owning at least a few pressed eyeshadows are a must for every Bride! Go for a few neutral shades, some golds, coppers & shimmers and a few bright shades for those fun moments...
Neutral - MAC Patina (used HERE), MAC Texture, MAC Honesty (review HERE), Colorbar Spicy Brown (review HERE), Inglot M348
Golds, Copper & Shimmers - MAC Retrospeck (review HERE), MAC Antiqued, MAC Expensive Pink, Colorbar Copper Crush (used HERE), MAC Goldmine (used HERE), Colorbar Potter's Clay, Colorbar Heatwave.
Brights & Bolds - Colorbar Deep Sea (used HERE), MAC Humid (review HERE), Revlon Luxurious Color Diamond Lust Eye Shadow in Plum Galaxy (review HERE), Inglot DS51 (review HERE)
Smokey Eye Essentials - MAC Shadowy Lady, MAC Contrast (review HERE), Kryolan Black Matte Eyeshadow, MAC Folie
4. BlushesThe power of a blush is often underrated while on the other hand they are such powerful products that one cannot even fathom... Blushes complete a look... An intricate eye makeup, a bright lipstick look, everything is incomplete without a complimenting blush. So you must at least have a couple of blushes in your collection.

5. FoundationsThese will obviously need to find a way into your kitty. Of course BB creams are great but there are occasions when nothing matches up to a full blown foundation and that is when you will require it to be your best friend.
Go for shades that EXACTLY match your skintone. A shade here and there and you are bound to mess up your whole look.
Dry Skin - MAC Face & Body Foundation (review HERE), Kryolan Ultra Foundation (review HERE), Maxfactor Second Skin Foundation (review HERE), The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Cream Compact Foundation (review HERE), Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
Oily Skin - MAC Studio Fix Fluid (review HERE), Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick, Revlon Photoready Foundation, Lakme Invisible Finish Foundation (review HERE), L'Oreal Infallible 16 Hour Foundation.
6. ConcealersYou got yourself a foundation, then getting a concealer is a no-brainer. Honestly? I do not recommend anything but MAC if you are looking for some really heavy coverage concealers. However, for minor blemishes and very light dark circles, Color Stick Concealer and TBS Pencil concealers do a decent job!
7. Face PowderCall me obnoxious but I think loose and translucent powders have no competition in front of pressed compacts. However, if you are into pressed powders then MAC Mineralize, Lakme White Radiance and Maybelline Whitestay UV Compact are some of the most popular ones in the market.
If you are looking for a loose powder then Kryolan Translucent Powder is what I whole-heartedly recommend!
8. HighlightersThis may not be a must have for many of you but I would really recommend a having at least one in your kitty. They miraculously make your whole look, look very complete and professional and make your pictures actually stand out!
Highlighters are generally used on your browbone (under the eye brows), inner corners of the eye, on your cheekones, on your cupid's bow and on the bridge of your nose.
Their soul aim is to give dimensions to your face and highlight specific areas for a more lean and a sculpted effect.
MAC Nylon eyeshadow, MAC Ricepaper eyeshadow (review HERE), Lakme Absolute Moonlit Highlighter (review HERE), YSL Touche Eclat Radiance Touch.
9. Eyeliner & Kohls
This I guess should have topped the list, cause for an Indian woman kohls and eyeliners are a staple. However, I figured that you would have already stocked up on your essentials and favorites and hence I slid it to the bottom of the list :D
So... Apart from your favorite kohl/eyeliner, there are a few other stuff that you might want to stock up on like particular gel liners and liquid liners...
If you are like me and a Maybelline Gel Liner enthusiast, then lemme urge you to also keep a pencil kohl handy for the times when you will be rushed. And for times when the sun is scorching, you might want to keep a liquid liner handy as well (for your upper lashline)...
You need these! Even if you believe that you don't, trust me you need these! Mascaras are a life saver for the morning after, they are life saver when you are cooking in the kitchen with your Mother-in-Law and they are a lifesaver when you go for an early morning jog...
11. Tools & AccessoriesThese are perhaps the most overlooked products but extremely significant. Without the right tools aka makeup brushes your makeup will always remain amateurish!
So... What you really need are the following kinds of brushes and you are sorted!
a) Foundation Brush
If you go searching for foundation brushes on google, there are a plethora of types that you can use to apply your foundation (apart from the sponges)... The most common ones are Flat Foundation Brush, Stipling Brush and of course the Buffing Brush... I personally prefer the flat kind made our of synthetic bristles because they give maximum control as well save you from product wastage.
What suits you is something that you need to try and decide for yourself.
However, do note that for thin, water based, light coverage foundations, flat synthetic brushes work best. However, if you are using a thick, creamy foundation, a stippling brush works best at making you look not masked!
My Recommendations: Colorbar Picture Perfect Foundation Brush (Flat & Synthetic bristles), MAC Stippling Brush 188, Sigma Stippling Brush F50 and Real Techniques Stippling Brush
b) Flat Eyeshadow Brush
This is the most basic eye shadow brush that you will and it is used to pat on eye shadow on your lids. Applying eyeshadow using this kind of brush ensures maximum pigmentation.
I use Faces Flat Eyeshadow Brush
c) Eyeshadow Blending Brush
This brush demarcates a pro from an amateur... This brush is basically used to blend out the harsh edges of the eyeshadows and give you a more uniformly gradient look. They are generally dome shaped and are fluffy in texture.
My Recommendations: MAC 216 (cult favorite), MAC 226 (my favorite), Kryolan Tapered Blending Brush #3507 (I cannot live without)...
d) Eyeliner Brush
With the advent of gel liners in our vanities, eyeliner brushes have become a must! Now many prefer using a thin eyeliner brush while the other tilt towards angled brushes. Whichever is your favorite, do not forget to purchase a backup as well :)
I use Vega Eyeliner Brush and The Body Shop Angled Brush.
e) Blush Brush
This is again an obvious brush to have and you may want to zero-in on what suits you best from a range varying from MAC to TBS to Vega.
f) Kabuki Brush
Yes! I am adding it to a must have brush casue nothing applies powder on your face evenly like a little kabuki does! And if you want the best, I'd suggest The Body Kabuki Brush.
I really cannot think of anything else, but if you think I may have missed out on anything else then do pitch in and add your suggestions through the comments section...
And brides to be, I hope this little list that I have compiled comes in handy for you :)
