REVIEW: MAC Impassioned Lipstick

Review of MAC Impassioned Lipstick

Guest Post By: Pranali

There is this thing with firsts, people always remember their ‘First’ no matter what. Here goes my first review on ISLM with my first MAC Lipstick. I always wanted Party Parrot, an LE of Strength Collection for Spring 2012 but I never could try it. Bright Colors always attracts my sight first. So, MAC Impassioned ended up being the first lipstick I tried at the store.

Handlooms Of India... A New Beginning...

Handlooms & Handicrafts Of India... My New Venture...

Handlooms and Handicrafts have always fascinated me... They have always held a special place in my heart. I love the richness India has to offer in terms of its beautiful textiles and intricate handicrafts... It mesmerizes me, holds me spellbound and traps me into a reverie... I am so enamored by it...

REVIEW: MAC Eyeshadow Patina

Review of MAC Patina Eyeshadow

You know what I really love about MAC? Their eyeshadows... Of course I adore their lippies too and I simply cannot live without MAC's Paint Pots but MAC eyeshadows in particular hold a special place in my heart... You know why? Cause most of them do not smudge and crease on me... And that's huge! Trust Me :)
Plus of course who can ignore the array of colorful little pans that are kept on display that catch your eye much before anything else does in the store...

It is that display array at the MAC store that tempts me to buy at least a couple of eyeshadows every time I visit the store... However, the one that I had been looking for quite a while had always been out of stock! The eyeshadow in question is MAC Patina... I had been looking for it high and low and it had been out of stock in Pune and all Mumbai stores... So much so that it seemed like a mirage to me and I had surrendered to the fact that I may never get to use the eyeshadow ever!

Every once in a while, a girl needs some bling in her life... Some OTT shimmer... Some in-your-face glitter and the works! I am personally not a bling loving person but once in a blue moon I sure crave for some shimmer and I feel the incessant urge to embrace bling... For such days and occasions I got myself Kryolan Glamour Sparks in Noble Spark...

Sonam Kapoor In A Grunge Goth Avatar On The Cover of Harper's Bazaar September 2013 Issue

Summer had come and passed The innocent can never last Wake me up when September ends
Nothing rings true more than these lines from Green Day's "When September Ends"...
I love September... Not only because it is my birthday month but also because it marks the beginning of fall and all the "dark" side of fashion that it brings with itself... The summer has truly passed and looking at Sonam Kapoor on the cover of Harper's Bazaar September 2013 issue, one can confidently say that "the innocent can never last"...

REVIEW: The Body Shop Vitamin E Cool BB Cream

Review of The Body Shop Vitamin E Cool BB Cream

With me approaching 30 with the speed of a bullet train, I have been getting pretty conscious about my skin. So much so that I have literally every product from The Body Shop's Vitamin E Range... Yup, I got them all... The last one to join the league was TBS's Vitamin E Cool BB Cream!

Of course with so many BB creams suddenly flooding the Indian market, I wouldn't be surprised if you sighed and said to yourself, "Really? Do I need to read about yet another BB cream?"... But before you press Alt+Tab and switch windows, would it help to hold your attention a little longer if I told you that The Body Shop actually has 4 ranges of BB creams?

Review of MUA Power Pout in Runway

I don’t know about you people but as a child I simply loved watching power puff girls. The liking towards the three cute girls was enough to keep me glued to the television for hours. But why am I telling you this?? Well, it’s because today I am reviewing such a power packed item; it has ‘power’ in its name also. Well, enough of keeping you guessing, today I am reviewing MUA’s power pout in the shade ‘Runway’

I love snow. Who doesn’t?? The dreamy white snowflakes, as of course shown on TV, the pristine white of fresh snowfall. And as soon as I pick up this bottle of OPI Alpine Snow, I am reminded of Kufri and its beautiful snow.

Bridal Beauty: Tips & Tricks For Your Engagement/Sagan Makeup

Engagement Makeup

Marrying into a North Indian family is like getting a crash course on Bollywood weddings and demystifying the various functions and celebrations that are always a part of a Karan Johar movie. From rokka to sagan to chunni-chadhana to teeka to mehendi to sangeet to jai-maala to phere to vidaai, I have been educated about them all...

Meet The Blogger: Sukanya of Vintage Girl At Heart

Meet The Blogger: Sukanya of Vintage Girl At Heart!

I generally don't start cooking dinner until the pati comes back home... I only have the soup ready and our daily ritual hence consists of us preparing dinner together... Him chopping vegetables and me doing the karchhi work, both while sipping soup from our respective bowls... This routine initially started as my act of defiance, trying to send across a message that we both go to work and hence we both don't cook or we both cook together... What started out as a feminist thing, soon changed into something cute and romantic and now we both look forward to the 45 mins we spend in the kitchen together, filling each other about our respective day and discussing stuff that we otherwise wouldn't get time to talk about...

So last night, while doing our respective tasks in the kitchen that would finally culminate into dinner and we talking about our day, the pati suddenly asks me, "What exactly is your vision for ISLM"…

REVIEW: Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch in Luminous Praline

Review of YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch

Every once in a while, actually more often than not, I am known to give in to temptation and get myself something that may not be very comfortable to my pocket without even glancing at reviews and how it fared on others... One such product was the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch. I bought it from Debenham's on my last trip to Bangalore and have been using it since...

LOTD: Defined Eyes... Without Kohl/Kajal

Defined Eyes Without A Kajal Or Kohl

It's amazing how things change... Without warning, without any indication, without any rhyme or reason... You believe in something, strongly feel it to be a part of you but one fine morning it eludes you or rather you elude it... Has it happened to you? Have you felt the need to abandon something, some habit, some trait, a personal style or your signature pattern?

Well... I never felt the need to and neither did I plan on, but I have, for a while given a rest to something that I always thought defined me...

My Birthday, Updates, Back From Being MIA... Rants In General

Happy Birthday To Me!
My mom always told me that a person can be judged by the birthday wishes he/she gets... Of course I always scoffed it off thinking about how easy it was for people to wish others on their birthdays in the era of Facebook, which does not let you miss out on anybody's birthday... However, this birthday I realized the true meaning of my mum's words and realized that it wasn't the number of wishes she was talking about but the way, the means and the sentiment behind each wish :)

I feel truly blessed today...

ISLM Rants: Which Has Been Your Favorite Fashion/Beauty Magazine in 2013?

Which Fashion/Beauty Magazine Is Your Poison In 2013?

Just when I have like a plethora of LOTDs and EOTD tutorials lined, I get the urge to not do an LOTD post but just rant away to glory... Of course I blame it on Friday, pumping me with unusual bursts of energy that wants me to go on chattering at the top of my voice at breakneck speed... Or could it be the lack of caffeine cause I am trying my best to reduce my coffee intake to 3 cups... Ummm yeah that's the reduced number... Or again it could be due to the excitement of having my birthday just around (not that I have huge plans) or simply still I feel totally high on life (a secret project is underway, ssshhhhh!)...

Rimmel London Lipstick Kate Moss Collection Shade 20Guest Post By: Shabby
A collection named after Kate Moss? Wow that's something to be curious about, right? Well that was why I was curious about it from the first and when I found one of the regular Rimmel shades back in stock I picked up this gorgeous shade from Rimmel as well. I actually wanted to get shade 16 but somehow decided at last moment to get this one.

Clubbing Night LOTD: Shimmery And Smoked Out Eyes... Severe Plum Lips!

Plum Lips, Matte Face, Shimmery Eyes... Look Of The Day!

The past couple of weeks have been really busy for me. I feel like I have only been rushing from event to event, home to office, office to event, event to meet-ups and well meet-ups to other meet-ups. It's a good thing no doubt cause I always prefer being busy rather than having nothing to do, however this time I think I am going to have a burn out like really soon. And so this should call for a vacation. But sadly, thats out of the question too as my coming months are booked to the core and I am not really sure when would I be able to squeeze in a break!

Have You Spa-ed At The Four Fountains Spa?

My Experience & Review of The Four Fountains Spa

My first spa experience was a couple of years back with my bestie, when we were so burning with curiosity about the whole glitz and glamour attached with a spa experience that we went on without any prior knowledge or even research... Fortunately for us it went so well that we decided to Spa regularly and that opened the doors to the exotic Spa-ing world for us...

Cointreau And Cointreauversies... At The Cointreauversial Women Party At Kue Bar, Westin! (Picture Heavy!)

Pune's Own Cointreauversial Party at Kue Bar, Westin!

Anything and everything about Dita Von Teese fascinates me! Her quintessential matte Red lip, her jet black hair coiffed in a retro chic way, the exaggerated winged liner and even the little black mole that she paints on her face, everything has me awed. And hence when I received an invite for a Cointreauversial Party that they were throwing in Pune, I was ecstatic and immediately accepted it!

Review of Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick in Loved Up!

Guest Post By: Shabby

Sleek MakeUP is a brand I was really temped to try from a long time but as most international are out of reach from most of us, I also had to control my lust and had to forget about sleek products. But some days back I heard that sleek website is accepting Debit cards; I literally jumped with joy and tried to place an order but it failed. But then while playing with the site later on I added this lipstick and a blush and tried to purchase it- to my surprise the order got placed. And to my amazement it came within 4 days of dispatch! Isn't that great????

Well I am definitely trying out more Sleek. But now let’s see how I liked this lipstick.

And We Have A Third Winner! :)

Announcing A Third Winner For Bring Out Your Inner Diva Makeup Contest

Just after reading about the mishap where Miss Universe Canada was dethroned after 24 hours due to a manual error and another one contestant was crowned, I said to myself "How can people conducting contests be so careless"... Little did I know that this would come back to bite me and I would too make a similar mistake. Fortunately, I do not need to denounce a winner but I actually get to announce another winner :)

Celebrity Makeup: Raveena Tandon and Her Makeup Woes

Why Does Raveena Tandon Do This To Herself?

There is makeup gone wrong and then there is deliberately not caring enough if your makeup goes wrong... Which is the case with Mrs Raveena Tandon Thaddani is something I'd really like to know! With her beautiful and expressive features you expect her to be at the epitome of beauty every time she steps out fo the house. However, some things are not meant to be and her makeup is one of them...

And The Winners Are... Bring Out Your Inner Diva Makeup Contest...

I have been putting off declaring the winner cause honestly I was having a really tough time coming up with one winner! All of the entries were so fabulous that I found it very difficult to choose just one...
So... I came up with an idea and I created a scorecard for the top 5 entries...

A good fragrance is hard to find, isn't it? I love going on my sniffing rampage, grabbing every fragrance I can get my hands on and sniffing them until my nose gives up. Miss Dior is just sweeeeeeeeeeeet.
You know like...
And just something I want to keep on my table, keep looking at and keep sniffing.

REVIEW: Kryolan Ultra Foundation

Review of Kryolan Ultra Foundation: Perfect For Dry Skin Beauties Looking For Medium to Heavy Coverage
I had always been scared of foundations... I had this uncanny fear of looking "artificial" or "made up" with foundation on and hence even though I had embraced eye shadows and blushes and lipsticks, bringing foundations into my inner-circle of makeup products took me a long time... If you look at it technically, I had to get married to finally be comfortable with foundations! Yup! True that!
