Review Of Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain In Smitten

I generally keep trolling beauty blogs for new launches (somehow reading them on other's blogs seems more interesting than reading the same PR info in a mail delivered in my inbox by the same PR people), tips and tricks, makeup inspirations and well most importantly product reviews... So when you are in this "stalking" mode, it is really difficult to miss out on products that everyone has been talking, reviewing and raving about... Glaring examples would be the Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner Pop, MAC LE launches and most popularly the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. The raving reviews and the oohhhhss and aaaahhhsss that I have been reading about the latter was just so tempting that I had to jump the bandwagon and be a proud owner of at least one of those miraculous sticks that supposedly had the ability to transform my lips into kissable pouts that have been just bitten (Pun intended with gusto!).

So, I visited the Health and Glow store closest to my place (about a km away from my place in Bombay) and approached the Revlon counter with an expression that literally said that I meant business... I know it said that cause I was for the first time not clamored by the other SAs... So anyways, once at the Revlon counter, I announce loudly "I would like to see the Just Bitten Sticks that Revlon has recently launched"... The Revlon SA immediately took out her stash and showed me "some" of the shades that they had stocked up on... Then she says "Testers nahi hai"... Excuse Me! I look at her as if I had seen a ghost! "Kya?". I wondered aloud as to how Revlon plans to sell stuff without giving their counters any testers for the customers to at least swatch! My bewilderment must be really obvious, cause the already hassled SA assures me that the testers would arrive in a day or two... By then I am really busy checking out swatches online... Here is where I would like to thank all the beauty blogs that have already reviewed the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. The most popular among all shades turns out to be Smitten and I ask the SA to give me the shade... I pay for it (duh!), walk out of the store, take pictures, put it on Instagram and dream of wearing it the next day to office...

Price of Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains:

They cost a whopping INR 600/-

Now products that generally get a lot of raving reviews have rarely worked for me in the past and well these Revlon beauties are no exception. It absolutely failed to work for me :( Don't get me wrong! Smitten is a gorgeous shade and the texture is just beautiful! It is really light, doesn't feel like you are wearing anything, pretty long stay, love the minty fragrance and it stains. For the record I love lippes and glosses that fade into a stain... But they are Sheer :( So sheer that they look uneven on my lips and it would be a big no no for anyone with pigmented lips like mine :( If you have pigmented lips too, I would suggest you to first try it out at the store before spending some 600 bucks on it.

Oooohhhsss And Aaaaahhhhss!!!
1. Has a refreshing minty flavour that doesn't linger on for too long.
2. Love the texture and the finish of the product.
3. It is pretty hydrating and makes my lips feel happy and pampered all day long :)
4. Since it stains, it stays on for pretty long.
5. Doesn't cause any kind of irritation or reactions.
6. Pretty shades available in this range.
7. They are retractable and hence need no sharpening.

Ouches!!!
1. Too sheer to be used on its own on pigmented lips.
2. A little too expensive!
3. Since they cannot be sharpened and only retracted, I really wonder what'll happen when the tip gets all blunt.

Repurchase?
Nope! It failed to work for my pigmented lips. Next time I'll add another 400 bucks and buy myself an Amplified Cream lippy from MAC.

Recommend?
If you have pigmented, I wouldn't really recommend these to you. However, as a gloss or a balm underneath a lippy, it is just perfect :)

Overall Rating
7/10 (for pigmented lips)
9/10 (for non-pigmented lips)

I agree with the cons..plus they are highly staining! i have honey shade n like it a lot since its very mlbb shade and long lasting :) but yeah i don't have pigmentation on lips so they work well on me..but i hate that they stain! i once tried lovesick and even though loved the shade it wud not come off my lips even after using a makeup remover!

    1. OMG that permanent the staining was? Ouch! I love lippies that stain but is they don't come off with a makeup remover then it's a matter of concern :P ha ha...

  5. Love the color on you. But pigmented lips poses problems with every sheer lip product! Mine are too pigmented so I rarely purchase sheer colors. Loved the review. It saved my 600 bucks :)

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.

Ooooohss And Aaahhss!! 1. Really really stays on forever. 2. Doesn't smudge on my oily lids even after 8 hours of wear. 3. Friendly to the pocket 4. Faces have become quite easily available now. 5. They do not cause any allergies or reactions. 6. They are waterline safe a…
