Reader Request: Tutorial For Makeup With a Pink and Silver Saree

Makeup Tutorial

Poorva says...

Hi :) Could you help me out ? I'm wearing a pink and silver saree for an event, and was wondering what kindof eye makeup would go with that? it's a light pink lace saree with silver sequins , thin border n some work here n there- all silver. It.s got a very elegant look so i was thinking would a silver smokey eye look good? or something else? do suggest something as soon as u can ! :) it.s a day event, n in college so nothing too fancy! U know na how engg colleges r :P

n also if u could suggest a blush n lippie?  something easily available n affordable? or u could just tell what kind of blush n lippie would look best with the look? basically asking this coz im new to blushes n lippies n IMO everything pink would look odd, no? I have only a few blushes which r mostly similar pinks only!
thank you :)

And this is what I replied...

Hey Poorva,
The way you describe your saree, it seems to be really gorgeous :) and you are right everything pink would look weird :P and pulling of a silver smokey eye during the day could be tricky too...
What you could do is wear a mauve or lavender or light purple shade of eyeshadow in your eyes and bright pink lipstick like Maybelline HOOKED ON PINK or MAC LICKABLE... keep your blush neutral like Colorbar Floral Fuscia...

If your event is a little later and if you have enough time, i could do a tutorial for you as well... Lemme know when your event is :)

Well, the event turned out to be next month and hence, here's the tute I did... Of course when I started out with the makeup, I tweaked things here and there and this is how it turned out to be :)

P.S. Necklace available for sale on SheBang

Products Used
1. Colorbar Perfect Match Primer
2. Kryolan Ultra Foundation
3. Inglot Eyeshadow DS72
4. MAC Eyeshadow Cork
5. MAC Eyeshadow Patina
6. Ellis Faas Cream Blush in S303
7. Ellis Faas Mascara - E401
8. Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick Hooked On Pink
9. Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner - Black
10. Kryolan Ikonic Gel Liner Pencil in Black
11. The Body Shop Pencil Concealer
12. MAC Eyeshadow Ricepaper

Procedure

1. Prime your face with your favorite primer. Since,  it's a day event and Summers are almost here, priming would be a really good idea.

2. Then apply a concealer wherever necessary and set it with powder.

3. Now that your base is ready, do your eyebrows (optional)

4. Next, taking a shimmery Purple eyeshadow, apply it on your lid area... It need not be evenly applied as we would be blending it out later. I have used Inglot DS72 cause it is a pretty purple with chunky silver shimmer.

  5. Once that's done, apply a highlighter shade (I have used MAC Ricepaper) on your browbone area to highlight it.

6. Then taking a neutral shade (I have used MAC Cork) with a tapered blending brush like MAC 217, apply it in your crease area and blend the harsh edges of the purple eye shadow applied in step 4.

7. Please note that this step is optional. Using a shimmery mauve shade, apply a bit of it on the inner half of your eyes. I have used MAC Trax.

8. Next taking a tapered brush apply the highlighter shade in the inner corner of your eyes. This as everyone knows, opens up the eyes.

9. Then taking a fluffy blending brush like Faces 106, take the initial purple eyeshadow lightly and blend it all over the eyes... This will blend all colors and yet give a dimension.

10. Finish your eye makeup with some kajal, liner and mascara.

11. With respect to the blush, go for a cream blush (for that subtle glow) and stick to a neutral shade. DO NOT use a pinkish blush!

12. Finish off with a pretty pink lipstick. If you are uncomfortable with Pink, a basic nude lippy will also look good with the dark purple eye shadow and defined eyes :)

Hope this helped Poorva!

  2. Love the look.. The eye makeup is really nice.. Hooked on pink looks really nice on you. I too have it on pink.. but it somehow doesn't look so great on me. I have to mix it up with other colours to make it work for me..

    2. For a brighter look I usually mix a deeper pink and for a toned down look I mix a nude lippy...
On its own, it looks a little weird on me.. Don't know why.. I thought it'd look perfect..

Review of L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Longwear High Impact Stick - Fuchsia Fame
Right now am sitting at the dining table trying to figure out a way to start this post in an "interesting" way... I am obviously struggling... There are these times when your mind just goes blank and you can't think of anything, right? Yeah, I am having one of those moments...

So, I guess I'll directly dive into the review and not mull around. I bought the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Stick on a whim... I was out window shopping at Shoppers Stop and I just happened to glance at the L'Oreal counter and this cute little stub caught my fancy... The moment I swatched it I knew I had to buy it...

Price of L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Stick It costs a whopping INR 999/-

There is nothing much to talk about the packaging. It is exactly what it looks like, a rotating chubby stick with a cap. The plastic doesn't seem cheap and is pretty sturdy. I have d…

How I Wear My Denim Jacket To Be In Trend for 2018

How I Wear My Denim Jacket To Be In Trend for 2018 Denim is forever. It's versatility makes it a classic and in the form of a jacket it not just looks dapper and en vogue but is also comfortable and convenient... I love denim jackets because they are perfect for Pune's so called Winters and because they are the best accessories for any kind of outfit...

Going through some of the Fall Winter 2017-18 collections from the likes of Calvin Klein, Christian Dior and Stella McCartney, denim on denim seemed to be the trend in boxy and boyish silhouettes. I am not a very big fan of denim and denim and hence I prefer to pair my boxy denim jacket with a flowy, floral dress that makes the look strike a balance between feminine and androgynous.

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
