Maybelline Volume Express Hypercurl Mascara Review

Review Of Maybelline Hyper Curl Mascara...

Guest Post By: Marianne

I am, and always was, more of an eye-makeup person than a lip-makeup person. Kajal was the very first makeup product I used, and I started using liquid liners before the pencil ones! Even if I am in a complete rush while getting ready, I use a single swipe of kajal, if not anything else. So it’s kind of funny that I never was attracted to mascara. It was only some months back that I decided to try one, just to see what it was all about. Up for review today is my very first mascara.

I completely love makeup and beauty-related things, but I am the kind of person who won’t bear pain or discomfort for the sake of looking good. Case in point: eyelash curlers. Yes, I know they are harmless, but somehow bringing that thing so close to my eyes and squeezing my lashes between it totally scares me! The Hypercurl mascara thus promised to be a good option for my foray into mascaras...quite affordable, and with claims of “Volumized + curled lashes for 18 hours” (Maybelline India site).

The packaging is really pretty with a silver-capped black tube with metallic pink lettering. The full ingredients list is mentioned in microscopic letters. The mascara wand is very slightly bent. The length is of the handle is issues while applying.

Now for the most important part – the performance on the lashes. I have quite thin eyelashes which are not very noticeable. They don’t have a natural curl to them either. I generally wiggle the brush and then hold it at the tips of the lashes to create a curl and it works fairly well. The effect may not be as pronounced as that of an eyelash curler, but it does provide some lift, and that is good enough for me! You don’t get mega-volume or anything with this mascara, but it does make lashes blacker and more noticeable, as you can see in the pictures. It does not take long to dry, and is completely waterproof (they have a washable version as well). It lasts for ages and does get a bit hard to remove sometimes. The downside is that it tends to clump when you apply more than one coat. As far as I remember, it did not clump much when it was new but after a few months of use, the clumping is very much there.

1. Affordable
2. Provides decent lift and enough volume for an everyday look.
3. Waterproof
4. Full ingredients list mentioned.

1. Slightly tough to remove
2. Clumps a bit when you layer it on.

Price Of The Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara:

INR 200! (Both the waterproof and washable versions)

Will I repurchase?
Probably not. But not because I don’t like it, just because there are so many more options to try.

Recommendation –
Overall, a good product for the price. Try it if you want an affordable mascara for everyday use and are not too particular about getting a lot of volume.

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

Review of L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Longwear High Impact Stick - Fuchsia Fame
Right now am sitting at the dining table trying to figure out a way to start this post in an "interesting" way... I am obviously struggling... There are these times when your mind just goes blank and you can't think of anything, right? Yeah, I am having one of those moments...

So, I guess I'll directly dive into the review and not mull around. I bought the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Stick on a whim... I was out window shopping at Shoppers Stop and I just happened to glance at the L'Oreal counter and this cute little stub caught my fancy... The moment I swatched it I knew I had to buy it...

Price of L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Stick It costs a whopping INR 999/-

There is nothing much to talk about the packaging. It is exactly what it looks like, a rotating chubby stick with a cap. The plastic doesn't seem cheap and is pretty sturdy. I have d…

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.
