REVIEW: Dove Elixir Dryness Care With Lavender & Olive Oil

Dating Back To Egyptian Medicine From 1800 BC

Dove claims to give you the goodness of overnight oiling in 30 minutes with these gorgeous bottles og precious oils they have recently come up with...
Now let me tell you all that I hate to oil my hair! FULL-STOP... Yup! I detest it! I am more of a oil your hair and sleep on it, wake up in the morning and then wash it off kind of a person. So Dove's claim of not going for overnight oiling but actually spending a precious 30 mins of my wakeful life didn't really sell it to me. What really got me to buy this beauty is the gorgeous packaging! I keep saying it again and again and I shall say yet another time that I am a sucker for GORGEOUS PACKAGING. Man! I love using Shouty Capitals!

So anyways, let me just rave about how it is packaged for a bit, before I start with the actual review! These Dove Elixirs come in a heavy glass bottle with a pump cap. The bottle itself is super sturdy and heavy! Nothing fragile about it. The bottle is then glass painted/printed on with some gorgeous shades of yellow, red, violet and it gives the whole thing an ethereal and a very expensive look. That's not all! The best part about the whole package is that it has REAL LAVENDER PETAL inside the bottle! Oh my! It looks so exquisite! :)

Like I already mentioned, I got myself the Dove Elixir Dryness Care with Lavender and Oilive Oil. I have extremely dry hair and after repeated hair rebonding and straightening sessions, my hair is actually lifeless and dull. But since the time I have started using this little wonder, my hair is actually starting to look healthy and cared for! Yes, I do still do get split ends but the dry and frizzy way my hair always managed to look is now history.

However, I have also read that if used in small amounts then it can be used a serum. Well NO! I have the driest hair on this planet and yet I cannot use it as a serum cause it makes my hair oily! So I shall reiterate, it is an awesome hair oil but not a serum!

One complain that I have from the product is it's "fragrance". No it's not bad. It's not overbearing or headache inducing either. It is just that it's a fake smell and has nothing classy about it :( I mean after the gorgeous packaging you expect it to have a subtle yet expensive fragrance but that is kind of missing :/

Oooohhhssss And Aaaaahhhss!!!
1. Lives up to its claim of caring for dry hair.
2. Gorgeous packaging.
3. Extremely light on the pocket.
4. I can actually see my hair look all nourished and less frizzy.
5. It is light and non-sticky

1. I am not a huge fan of the fragrance :(

It costs INR 185/-

It would be selfish of me to not recommend it to others! If you have dry, frizzy, under nourished hair then you must give it a shot! If not for anything then at least for the packaging :P

Overall Rating:

  1. Ive been using this for over a nonth and i love it just so much..n as always!u look so pwetty ^_^

  5. u look gorgeous:)
i have this too but it has so much of mineral oil:(, i like my traditional oils better, but loveee th bottle:D

    1. the bottle is gorgeous isn't it? :) ha ha ha
and regarding mineral oils, they aren't really harmful you know. The only issue with them is that they aren't absorbed and hence do not let moisture in, but then that's exactly whats required for people like me to control FRIZZ :P

  6. I just got the nourished shine one yesterday...Absolutely in love with the bottle! It has hibiscus petals in it.

  7. You know your hair looks superb.. you declare dislike for it aise hi :(

  8. That is a supermodel-like pic !

  9. Wow Samy, you look drop dead glam in the pic. Am trying out their rose-almond oil for bout a month now, but yet to draw any conclusion.

  10. I was thinking of getting this and using it as a serum no now.

  11. any one else an suggest any other good proper-proper hair oil?

  12. Forget the oil ! you look really beautiful! :D m trying tbs coconut oil n m lovin it no end!

  13. Then this is for my dry hair. Thanks for the precious review. :)

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW: L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Longwear High Impact Stick - Fuchsia Fame

Review of L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Longwear High Impact Stick - Fuchsia Fame
Right now am sitting at the dining table trying to figure out a way to start this post in an "interesting" way... I am obviously struggling... There are these times when your mind just goes blank and you can't think of anything, right? Yeah, I am having one of those moments...

So, I guess I'll directly dive into the review and not mull around. I bought the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Stick on a whim... I was out window shopping at Shoppers Stop and I just happened to glance at the L'Oreal counter and this cute little stub caught my fancy... The moment I swatched it I knew I had to buy it...

Price of L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blush Paint Stick It costs a whopping INR 999/-

There is nothing much to talk about the packaging. It is exactly what it looks like, a rotating chubby stick with a cap. The plastic doesn't seem cheap and is pretty sturdy. I have d…

How I Wear My Denim Jacket To Be In Trend for 2018

How I Wear My Denim Jacket To Be In Trend for 2018 Denim is forever. It's versatility makes it a classic and in the form of a jacket it not just looks dapper and en vogue but is also comfortable and convenient... I love denim jackets because they are perfect for Pune's so called Winters and because they are the best accessories for any kind of outfit...

Going through some of the Fall Winter 2017-18 collections from the likes of Calvin Klein, Christian Dior and Stella McCartney, denim on denim seemed to be the trend in boxy and boyish silhouettes. I am not a very big fan of denim and denim and hence I prefer to pair my boxy denim jacket with a flowy, floral dress that makes the look strike a balance between feminine and androgynous.
