The Gel Liner Wars... MAC vs Inglot vs Maybelline... The culmination...

I am today finally ready to give my verdict on the Gel Liner wars and well it's been a tough week deciding on which was better and which could ve been better. You see what made it all the more difficult was the fact that I heart all three of them and well a mommy cannot really choose a fav out of her babies now can she? Ok weird analogy! Its the marriage thing... It's gotten into me and has been making me say all these crazy stuff and give all such lopsided analogies! LOL! I'll get over it soon I promise :P

Ok so coming back to what I was saying, I was saying all three products featured in this post are just simply awesome and well it would be totally unfair to pick out a winner out of them three... So I have decided to dedicate one section to each of the liners and then you guys pick yourself a winner according to your requirements and my experience with each one of them! Phew! You'll soon realize it's a tough job! :D
So here we go...

MAYBELLINE LASTING DRAMA EYE STUDIO GEL LINER (Black)
I have already done a review on this here.
ooohs and aaahhhs
1. Jet Black and I mean really jet black. FULL STOP
2. It is smudge proof after you've allowed it to set for like 2 seconds!
3. It does NOT dry in the tub like a lot of others that I know of :P
4. It comes with an applicator brush, which is GREAT! The brush is super soft and yet firm and is a dream to apply with.
5. It costs only INR 375/- and wow it goes on for like forever... I am a girl who needs her kajal and liner everyday, come what may and for me one tub goes on for like 5-6 months! Its actually magical!
6. It's great cause it doesn't cause any allergies or reactions. It does not burn my eyes and I apply it all over my eyes. LOL.. I mean the waterline, the tightline, lashline and you get the drift! :P
7. It id odorless!
ouches!
1. It fades just a little bit by the end of the day and accumulates at the outer corners of my eyes.
2. The glass tub it comes in is real cute but has a very cheap feeling aluminium cap
3. In India, only one shade i.e. black has been introduced.

INGLOT AMC LINER MATTE (83)
I had heard a lot about INGLOT Gel liners and I was itching to try one. And since I was more than satisfied with my Maybelline Black Gel Liner, I got myself a blue in Inglot. The shade that I own is a true Indigo Blue and looks like a really pretty shade in the pot it comes in. But on the eyes, it looks like a shade darker not that I am complaining ;)
ooohs and aaahhhs
1. Has a great range of shades and it gets really difficult to choose...
2. It dries real fast and so if u want to try out stuff like smudging and all then you have to be really QUICK!
3. It remains dry through out the day and does not fade or smudge!
4. Its ultra waterproof!
5. It does not get accumulated at the outer corners of my eyes and I s love it for that! :D <3 <3
6. Its great as a kajal as well as a liner on the upper lashline :)
7. You get a lot in the pot about 6.5 gms and costs a mere INR 650/-
ouches!
1. It dries up and when i say dries up, I mean dries up in the pot. They say you get an Inglot Duraline for "undrying" the gel. I haven't really needed it so far!
2. Like I said in my ooohs and aaahs section, it dries up fast but sometimes at the end of the day it feels tight on my waterline because of the dried liner and it does get itchy occassionally :(
3. It comes in a cute looking container but its all plastic and feels all tacky :( I mean after all Maybelline and MAC ones come in glass tubs and they really give an expensive feel to the product.
4. It's shades do not have names but only numbers and somehow I am not really a fan of that!
MAC FLUIDLINE (Macroviolet)
MAC doesn't really need any introductions and well it doesn't really need any reviews either but then I am still going ahead and listing out my experiences with it :)ooohs and aaahhhs
1. The shade is gorgeous!
2. It sets fast and can then not be budged at all. It stays on like forever!
3. It feels like "you're wearing nothing at all"... Nope not acuvue but the MAC fluidline :P
4. No reactions and no irritation at all! But then what else did you expect?
5. Is really smooth to apply and just simply glides on.
6. It Does NOT dry up in the pot :)
7. The pot it comes in is of heavy glass and feels really nice, sturdy and classy :)
ouches!
1. It's expensive! A really tiny pot of 3gms set me back by INR 950/-
2. This shade doesn't really show up on my waterline but then in all fairness I am comparing it to Maybelline's black liner! I'll need to get myself blacktrack from MAC to give u fair comparison of the color pay-off :)

So here it is and just for the record I think this has been my longest post so far ;)
Guys lemme know which one you think should be crowned the winner :D

REVIEW & LOTD: MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick in Cosmo

Cosmopolitan (Cosmo in short) has always been a favorite of mine... the cocktail? yes! the magazine? oh yes! the MAC lippy? Well lets see :P Oh yes this post is dedicated to reviewing the ever-popular MAC Cosmo, which is an Amplified Creme lipstick and has a cult following in India especially in the blogging world :) Well yes the obsession is because it is a yummy brown-pink that suits most skintones!
So when I came across all this hullabaloo about this lippy, the curiosity got the better of me and I went ahead and bought it :) While purchasing it, the SA actually beamed at me as if to say "good choice girlie! better late than never"... hahahaha... But you know what the funny thing is? Cosmo never caught my eye whenever I went to buy MAC lipsticks earlier. I noticed it just because it was so raved about on the blogosphere... If I hadn't ever read about it then most probably I would have never bought it... But then that's just me :P
I am not saying that it is a bad lipstick, it is actually a very good one and very flattering to a lot of skin tones, its creamy, it smells yum and above all it is MAC but what I am trying to say is that it isn't a show stopper. It is a perfect pinkish-nude for medium skin tones... very subtle and subdued... I personally rarely use it cause I tend to tan easily and when tanned, it ends up looking really pale on me... Plus I have a tough time deciding my eye make-up that pairs well with Cosmo... But if you are on the fairer side, then you surely got yourself a HG lipstick. It is HG material no doubting it :)
The quality of this range of lipsticks (amplified creme) is just sooooo smooth. It feels so light and so buttery on my lips.... And the signature choco-vanilla flavor of all MAC lippies is just so tempting :)

This is how it looks on my lips.
Ooohhss and Aahhhss!
1. Very versatile color and it suits a range of skin-tones.
2. Amplified creme lipsticks feel very buttery and smooth on the lips. They are very comfortable to wear.
3. It's an opaque shade and hence gives good coverage.
4. The lipstick has a choco-vanilla flavor, which is signature to MAC lippies
Ouches!
1. The shade makes me look a tad pale/washed out
2. It's expensive!
3. It doesn't stay on me for long :( max 2-3 hours without eating or drinking!
Price
The cost ranges between 900/- to 990/-
Repurchase?
Yes to other shades from this range :)
Would I recommend it?
Honestly? Well it's a nice shade to have and if you are on the fairer side or like neutral shades then purchase it blindly :P But if you prefer brighter shades or are on the duskier side then I would recommend you to first try it on your lips and then decide to purchase or not!

If it reminds you of Maybelline Colorsensational in Warm Me Up, then let me tell you that if you mix a bit of Pink into Warm Me Up then you do get MAC Cosmo :)

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Sparkle Dust in Gold (Shade 2)

This post has been long due from my side and I have somehow always shelved reviewing this product even though it is my HG loose pigment in a golden shade. Whenever I need to use a golden eye-shadow I automatically turn towards it, it is such a favorite of mine :)
This product is called Faces Sparkle Dust in Shade 2... It is beyond me why Faces refuses to name their shades... Remembering numbers and co-relating them to shades is like quite difficult :(
I bought it when I was preparing, collecting and buying cosmetics that I needed to do my wedding make-up. You know how Indian weddings are with glittery lehengas, sarees, "glitterier" jewellery and of course "loud" make-up to go with it all, don't you? Indian brides are literally transformed into a Goddess :) So then obviously I needed a golden eye-shadow for my make-up :) And it just couldn't be any shade of Golden!!! It had to be a bright, glittery and very sparkly golden. But you see I am not really a very OTT person and I prefer things subtle and more subdued, so I had this huge inner turmoil thing going on inside of me as to what kind of a golden I should go for. But then I stumbled upon this beauty... And I was charmed... Charmed for life :)
This shade of golden sparkle dust was like wow! It was perfect! it was glittery but still had a subtle effect... I don't know how to explain in to you guys :) Maybe an LOTD will help :) The golden has an orange-ish tinge to it and it really looks very pretty when applied on the eyes. It looks gorgeous as a smokey look like I have done <here>, it looks really pretty on it's own and it looks gorgeous when blended with another complimenting shade too... What more could I ask for?

Oooohs and Aaahhhhs!
1. A wonderful golden shade. Goes with almost all Indian outfits excepting ones in silver (duh!)
2. Lasts really long though I have always used it over MAC Painterly Paint Pot.
3. Very good pigmentation.
4. Even though it's in a loose pigment form, I have never noticed any fall out. It could be in my technique too :P
5. The particles are really fine and contains no chunky or tacky glitter.
6. Blends like a dream.
7. Never caused me any allergies or reactions.
8. Inexpensive
9. Contains a lot of product.
Ouches!
1. It's in a loose pigment form and many may have difficulty using it if they are not used to it.
Price
It costs INR 250/-
Repurchase?
If I finish it then yes of course, if not then I will surely go for other shades in this range :)
Would I recommend it?
Are you kidding me? Do I really need to answer that after I have been practically raving about it this whole post? :P
Yes of course I recommend it :)

GLIMPSE: Faces Brights Makeup Kit

What makes us girls the happiest? Diamonds? Shopping? Chocolates? Flowers? All of these yes but what really makes me happy is a HAPPY SURPRISE :) Don't we all just love surprises? Just yesterday I was pleasantly surprised by a parcel from Fashion and You that contained this awesome make-up kit from Faces. This really wasn't a surprise in the true sense but you see I had ordered for it and then had conveniently forgotten about until the moment it arrived. Imagine my surprise when I opened to see what the parcel contained for me:)

I am just soooooo HAPPY :D

Let me warn you all that this is a pic heavy post and well those you dont like pictures (i can't imagine who) are requested to read my other posts ;)

Ok, so here goes...

The kit is called FACES BRIGHTS and contains the following:
  1. Eye-shadow palette containing 5 colors: Cranberry RED (200), Indigo BLUE (034), Golden YELLOW (336), Moss GREEN (188) and PURPLE (327). They are all non-matte and with the perfect shimmer. If it was a MAC palette, I would have described them as “velvet” shadows :)
  2. Metaliglow Eye Primer: It is a pale champagne colored eye-shadow base.
  3. Volumizing and Lengthening Mascara
  4. Eye Pencil in Black-Noir
  5. Brow wax and powder duo.
The swatches are here:

The eye-shadows as you can see are very highly pigmented and I just cannot refrain from trying them out :) ha! What a happy week I have ahead of me :)

The black eye-pencil seems quite decent and black and I'll need to try it out for at least a couple of days to give you guys a proper review. Yes! A review of this palette will be done! And if you guys do want to purchase it at a discounted rate, you must check it out at Fashion and You. An invitation to Fashion and You is here

The box reads INR 999/- to be price but on Fashion and You, I got it for a discounted price of INR 650/- :)

LOTD: Spanish Flamenco Dancer Inspired

I have been planning to do this look i.e. a look inspired by Espaniol Bailarines De Flamenco since a long time now, but the final trigger was the song "Senorita" in the movie "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" :) After watching the movie, I just knoew I had to try it out and so here it is :)
Now a word of caution... You guys'll have to be really kind with your criticism here :P LOL
The aim behind doing this look was to look a bit OTT and yet depict the powerful sensuality that Spanish women are known to possess and that flamenco dancers liberally ooze out with their every tapping step... So here goes...
The look!
As you can see here, I have kept my face a bit shiny or rather glowy and have gone with red lips, which is signature to Spanish Flamenco dancers. I have also tied up my hair in a side roll and attached a flowery accessory to it. The eyes of course are heavily done up. I have gone with a golden smokey look here, in order to make my eyes look more slanted :) And yes as is obvious I have accentuated my eyes with false lashes :)
A sideview
The products that I used for this look are as follows:
Face
1. Streetwear Crystal Shine Face Brightener

Eyes
1. Faces Sparkle Dust in Gold (review here)
2. MAC eyeshadow in Beauty Marked
3. VOV false eye lashes'
4. MAC Paint Pot in Painterly (review here)
5. Maybelline Gel Liner (review here)
6. Colorbar Precision Waterproof Liquid Liner
7. Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara
Lips
1. Maybelline Lip Liner in Nude
2. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in hot hot hot (review here)
Cheeks
1. Maxfactor Creamy Blush in Soft Copper
2. Maybelline blush in Apricot Flush
Let me know how you guys find the look :)

GLIMPSE & NOTD: Colorbar Nail Enamel in Earthern Rose

Have you ever felt like doing something totally opposite to what is expected of you or what you very predictably do? I don't mean anything drastic, but something harmless like switching from Tea to coffee for a day or maybe wearing a red lipstick rather than pink... Well I had this moment a couple of days back and decided to get myself a neautral/nude/earthern nail paint rather than the pinks, corals and reds that I am usually more partial towards and well I am loving it :D
Here's a sneak peek at the shade and how sumptuous it looks on my nails :)
Colorbar Nail LacQuer in Earthen Rose
As you see, it's a very pretty nud"ish" shade called Earthen Rose and makes my fingers (and toes) look soooooo delish! :D
Will be sporting it for a couple of days before I give my verdict on it... So stay tuned... This was just a glimpse of the coming attractions ;)

LOTD & Tutorial: Soft Peach and Pink Smokey Look

Yoohoo.. It's been so long since I did a tutorial and well to think about it, there was a time when I so enjoyed putting up my random LOTDs and titorials. But now being wrapped up with product reviews (well yes I have been a hoarder!) I totally forgot about doing some of my favorite tutes :) Just yesterday someone told me how she hated when beauty bloggers flaunted their superbly done makeups and EOTDs and LOTDs but not give an insight on how to chieve them. Ahem! Well needless to say I was left wondering if she was talking about me! No! I am not claiming that I do just "perfect" make-up but then you guys do get the drift! LOL!
So now I came up with this ridiculously easy LOTD and I am so hoping that you guys try it out and share your results with me. I will be deeply honored :) Honestly!
Here's a sneak peek at what we are gonna be achieving by the end of this tutorial. It's a soft peach and crimson smokey look:
The Look :)
I wanted to do a look with my Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette and well rest as they say is history :) The products that I have used for this look is:
The Products...
Face:
Garnier Body Cocoon Moisturizer
Eyes:
MAC Paint Pot in Painterly (as base) (review here)
Peach (Shade 1) from Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette
Crimson (Shade 2) from Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette
Black (Shade 3) from Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette
Maybelline Lasting Drama Eye Studio Gel Liner in Black (review here)

Maybelline Colossal Volume Mascara

Cheeks:
Colorbar Blush in Plum Brown

Lips:
Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in HOT HOT HOT (review here)

Now that we are done with listing of the products, here goes the tutorial:
1. First off, prep your eye lids with an eye-shadow base. I used MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
Used MAC Painterly Paint Pot as base...
2. This step is optional. You can buff your lids with loose powder. I haven't done so.
3. Next, I applied shade 1 (peach) all over my lids with a flat eye-shadow brush.
Shade 1: Peach
4. Then applied some shade 2 (crimson) on my crease area and blended with a good fluffy blending brush.
Shade 2: Crimson

5. You could line your eyes now and finish off but I needed it to be a bit more dramatic and so took some shade 3 (black) and blended it in my outer V of my eyes.
6. Next I lined my eyes with Maybelline's Lasting Drama Eye Studio Gel Liner in Black and applied some Maybelline Colossal Volume Mascara.
7. On my lips I applied Colorbar Velvet Matte lipstick in Hot Hot Hot and then kissed a tissue ;)
8. Finally applied some Colorbar Blush in Plum Brown and VOILA I was ready to go :)

You guys do try this out and I would love to receive your looks if you care to share them with me :)

REVIEW & LOTD: Maybelline Expert Wear Blush in Pinch O' Pink

It's no secret that I am crazy about eye make-up and just simply adore eye-shadows in all shades and colors.. Just lately I have started investing (yes I call it investing, cause good products just never let you down in the future :P) in lipsticks and blushes cause you know eyes might be mirrors to your souls but lips are the mirrors to your thoughts and well pink/red/highlighted cheeks just look so pretty ;)

I must say that I don't really own a hoard of blushes just about 4 to 5 and so for me to do this review is fairly simple as I am not really spoilt for choice. Ha Ha! Now one thing that most of us bloggers and blog readers make a point to do is that we read several reviews of a particular product before venturing into buying it... It of course makes sense to be aware of what you are buying, after all money is hard to earn ;) So, well before buying this particular blush from Maybelline, I did do some extensive research on the blogosphere. Hence, you can be rest assured that this product isn't going to be very terrible!! But in order to know if it meets expectations, exceeds expectations or even far exceeds expectations, you'll need to continue reading ;)

IMAGE OF THE PRODUCT

Maybelline Blush in Pinch O' Pink

LOTD
Not very flattering on an NC40 skin tone
Oooohs and Aaaahhhhss!

1. The product as such is very finely milled and hence very smooth to apply.
2. Does not cause any reaction or allergies.
3. It has this really and I mean really fine shimmer, which looks really pretty. It gives a subtle glow to my cheekbones :)
4. Ridiculously inexpensive and it is really difficult to go wrong with something that is so pocket friendly :P
5. I have extremely dry skin and this does not dry me out much maybe because I moisturize like crazy. Not that it wont suit oily skinned girls cause I have read rave reviews about this product from oily skinned beauties as well :)
6. The color is buildable i.e. one swipe doesn't give you a lot of color. You need to keep layering the color with generous sweeps in order to make the shade brighter. And trust me this is an awesome quality for a blush especially for beginners ;) But for some this could be a con!
7. Surprisingly, the tiny brush that comes with the blush isn't actually useless... It is pretty decent and well can come in handy especially if you are on the go and dont want to carry a proper blush brush :D Yay for that!
8. It's great for those who are starting to use make-up and in the experimenting phase.
9. The packaging is really cute and sleek and it is very very travel friendly :)

Ouches!

1. Staying power isn't really that good, stays on for like 3 hours max. But since I moisturize my face like crazy and use a body lotion on my face (Yes i do! Sue Me :P), the blush stays for say 4-5 hours.
2. I am an NC40 and this pink isn't really flattering on me ;) In fact it looks horrible on me. Those with fairer skin-tone might just LOVE it!
3. It could be a bit drying for dry skinned girls. But it's basically dependent on how you moisturize your skin.

Price

It costs INR 209/-. What is the logic behind the "9"? My guess is as good as yours...

Repurchase?

Not this shade but yes the range is good so maybe another shade in it :)

Would I recommend it?

Like I said, this range is great for make-up beginners and even virgins (in make-up ofcourse) and this particular shade could be extremely flattering on fair skin. I am an NC40 and it looks terrible on me :(

REVIEW & LOTD: MAC Paint Pot in Painterly

This is one product that I just cannot live with out and well let me tell you that without these beauties doing my make-up would be worthless and totally redundant (Drama Queen? I know!) MAC launched this product with a dual purpose. What they I guess had in mind was a creme eye shadow that would dry instantly when applied on the eyes and then would not budge or smudge till one took it off at night. Also, due to its non-creasing and non-smudging effects people all over were urged to start using these as eye-shadow bases as well! What genius! :D And well this is exactly what you get when you buy a MAC Paint Pot... A creme based eye-shadow that stays on like forever and an eye-shadow base, which I think is the best invention in the make-up world after long stay lipsticks... You see I am all about durability and long stay ;)
I initially bought the Paint Pot in Painterly to solely use it as an eye-shadow base. I do wear it as an eye-shadow but it is too pale for my skin tone. But eye-shadow or not I simply love it as a base :)

Ok! So what does the MAC website have to say about this little miracle?

A highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.

Eye-shadows: Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette; Base: MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
Tutorial coming up Next!

Oooohs and Aaahhhs!
1. As an eye-shadow base, it pops the color of eye-shadows and make them brighter and more intense.
2. Once applied as a base, the eye make-up stays in place for like ever and just doesn't budge from its intended place :)
3. When used as an eye-shadow too, it is smudge proof and to a great extent waterproof.4. It does not cause any reactions, allergies or irritation.5. It are odorless and does not sting the eyes.6. Even though it dry up real fast on the eye lids, your eyes do not feel any kind of dryness or itchiness. In short it is extremely comfortable to wear!
7. One pot contains like a lot of product and well I dont think I'll be able to finish it in the next 5 years even if I use them regularly! So basically, it's a highly justified buy ;)
8. It comes in these heavy glass pots with rubbery-plastic lids that is signature of MAC. I love this packaging :)

Ouches!
1. Some might find them expensive but the amount of product that you get and the quality it offers is something that is worth much more than what you pay!
2. It dries up real fast, so you need to quick in spreading it all over your lids.

Price
It costs INR 1050/-

Repurchase?
Definitely! But then I don't think I'll be able to finish it ever. So I'll go and buy other shades in this range :)

Would I recommend it?
Oh yes! For sure! Girls go get it! For people like me who have super oily lids, this is a must. For people who don't have eye-shadow creasing problem (I know a few who dont!), they might give it a miss but then these products are great even as shadows :)
