REVIEW & LOTD: MAC Matte Lipstick in Chili

Rudolph the Red nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose... Think Christmas and colors that essentially pop up in your head are Red, Green and White... With Red so much in season and me in love with Red Lips, it was obvious that I would go and pick myself up another Red lippy :) Red lips might just seem something to be wary of, but if you trust me, I'd say Red lips is something that is the easiest to carry off... Am I crazy is what you ask but trust me... Of course I'll cover this in another post (so you guys do stay put).

Like I said I love Red lips and I love matte lippies, my obvious choice thus had to be MAC Matte Lipstick in Chili. MAC Chili, is one shade that I have been having a hard time finding a swatch or review for online, so I decided to do a review of it ASAP :)

MAC Chili is a matte lipstick and isn't exactly a blood Red. You may say that it is more of a brown based Red or more precisely a burnt orange based Red. Of course I have posted a comparison image in this post too, so that it is easier for you guys to judge the shade more accurately :)

Another point that I would like to cover is the fact about MAC Matte lipsticks being dry or not. I mostly own MAC lipsticks in Amplified Creme and Lustre. I wanted to try out the matte range too, but I had heard very negative reviews of the MAC matte range about them being very dry and hence I was refraining from spending about a grand for something that was deemed doomed (love the way it sounds!). However, when I swatched Chili, I knew that it was something that I had to have irrespective of the texture of the lipstick. But fortunately, MAC Matte Lipsticks work for me and they don't make my lips dry or chapped :)

Comparison Swatches
I am comparing MAC Chili with two of my other favorite Red lippies, which are Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in Hot Hot Hot and Lakme Absolute Matte Lipstick in Classy Rose.
Colorbar Hot Hot Hot is a blue based red and Lakme Absolute Classic Rose is a perfect orange based Red.
(L-R): Colorbar Hot Hot Hot, MAC Chili, Lakme Absolute Classic Rose
Oooohhhss and Aaaahhhss!!!
1. It is a beautiful shade of red, wearable and "safe".
2. Does not cause reactions or darkening of lips.
3. This range of lipsticks has a lot of shades to choose from.
4. The lipstick has a choco-vanilla flavor, which is signature to MAC lippies
5. The lipstick is really opaque and hence gives very good coverage. Ideal for pigmented lips.
6. It has good staying power and stays on, on the lips even a after numerous cups of tea/coffee and a meal in between :)

1. It is on the expensive side!
2. Some might find it drying cause it is matte in texture
It costs INR 990/-

Definitely! If I cannot finish the tube then other shades from this range for sure :)
Would I Recommend
Oh yes! It's a beautiful shade, a "safe" red and very wearable!

Overall Rating

  1. What a beautiful color! I love bright lipsticks! Im too fond of russan red too! I use oranges, reds, bright pinks and subtle ones too! This time i want aproper coral color! Which one would you recommend?

  2. hey Tanvee... if u looking for a daily wear/safe color to be your first lippy from MAC, I would suggest you CRAVING (pink) and TOUCH (nude)... If you want a bright Red, then a very pretty Red which I have my eyes on is VIVA GLAM 1...

Cover The Cover: Harper's Bazaar (India) March 2012

You all know that I love tweaking my blog here and there and making some changes, introducing newer features and well sometimes just hooking the blog onto some social networking site :) Well this time I am introducing a new feature that I promise will be really exciting for all beauty enthusiasts :) To start with this feature is called "Cover The Cover" where I shall be covering the cover pages of our favorite beauty and fashion magazines in terms of make-up. There are times when a certain look on a celeb or a fashion mag just gets to us. Well rather than just mulling over such looks I have decided to give life to such looks (on me) and well do a kind of a faux photo shoot ;) What say? Doesn't it sound like fun? What more? You are all invited to submit your looks with a reference to which magazine and edition you are covering and I'll post it here :)

Today's look is inspired by my latest fav mag Harper's Bazaar. The March edition of Harper's Bazaar is a …

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue

While doing the "Meet The Bloggers" feature every Saturday, I have realised (and I am sure that you all have too) that Faces is fast becoming a very popular brand amongst us especially the Faces Long Wear pencils. So much so that a lot of people prefer Faces Long Wear pencils to even Colorbar I-Glides and that ladies and gentlemen is quite a feat for a newly launched brand. So anyways, I got myself a "Navy Blue" from this range and I must say that I am very happy with it. This is my second pencil from Faces after "Turquoise Blue" and well it hasn't failed me either.
This particular shade is a beautiful deep blue that looks stunning on the eye lids.

REVIEW: Johnson's Baby Lotion on Adult Skin

I am itching to do some makeup EOTDs and LOTDs since a while now but with guests at home I am not getting any time... So for a while you guys are stuck with me doing reviews. Not that my reviews do not need much efforts but as compared to EOTDs and LOTDs, reviews are a little bit less demanding where time constraints are concerned... Don't you agree? :)

Today I shall be reviewing the Johnson's baby lotion and before you raise your eye brows and say to yourself "WTF" let me make it absolutely clear that I bought it when I was out of a moisturiser and needed one pronto! This was the only one available and so I just bought it. I figured if it was good for babies, how could it be bad for me? The truth? Read on ;)

Johnson's Baby Lotion is Clinically proven to be mild and mild it sure is. It has a soft and soothing fragrance, which I love. Once applied it gets absorbed really fast and does not leave a residual oiliness or greasiness. It would be perfect for normal ski…
